WMV works fine in WMC and the Zune software.  The conversion happens because if you have a video that's 1gig in file size, but encoded to the a large resolution the Zune software will convert it down to the devices resolution in order to save room on the device.  You can adjust how and when the conversion happens by going into Settings ...

I recently upgraded to a Zune HD 32 GB from my 120 GB Zune.  Unfortunately it doesn't seem to be letting me sync video that I bought through Marketplace on the old zune to the new one.  I keep getting the error that I dont have sync rights for this item.  Is there a way I can transfer sync rights to the new Zune ...

Ok...I managed to get some people who know what's going on to look at this.  This message is thrown when the Zune software is having trouble writing metadata to it's database...it has nothing to do with writing metadata to the file (so I was way off already, hehehe).
It was suggested that using the "Media Collection Reset Tool" ...

Yeah, I've tried to uninstall/reinstall, and unfortunately it still shows up, same problem. It shows me whats inside the error report, but I can't really decipher it (being some form of programing language I think). In the Exception Information section of the report, however, it does says Code: 0xe0434f4d, but I'm not sure ...

Hi tortured life,
How long did you wait after seeing the converting message?  BTW, you won't see the converted video's in your collection...they are in your temp directory and only used for sync'ing to your device.  Converting can take a long time depending on how large the original WMV is and what resolution it was encoded at.

Hi chrisinyc,
Sorry you're having such horrible problems.  It's likely you're not getting much help in this forums section because most people that post here only know how to fix collection related issues.  I'll move this post to a forums section where you're more likely to get people who know more about the kind of issue ...

Nope, not hanging you out to dry...just not sure what's going on and this was posted in the wrong forums section for people who would know what's going on.  :)
I'll move the post over to the Marketplace section and you're likely to get someone who knows what's up.

Hi roguetexan,
This sounds like either your video or audio driver is causing issue's (it's usually some kind of hardware issue when everything just freezes).  Please make sure you have the most current drivers for your video and audio cards.

Hey everyone,
I see there's a lot of traffic on this issue, however I'm trying to repro it here and not having much luck.  I did bring it up to several other people here though so hopefully one of us has seen it before.
One quick suggestion on something to check for is to make sure the files are not set to ...

Update - After being this way for about a month, the problem resolved itself.  Assuming that there was some change to the content on the back-end that resolved the problem.
Hi brucemc,
Sorry this wasn't at least addressed before it fixed itself.  That's pretty odd it took so long though.  Please let us know if you ...

Hi crazzzy stoner,
There's no automatic way to re-download everything as marketplace content (although it would be a cool feature)...the fastest way would be to let Zune try to autopopulate the metadata tags of your music...this could take some time depending on how easy your music is to tag.  Once that's done when you right mouse ...

Hi znntoday,
As another thought on what could be causing that...did you happen to sync any of your friends content to your device?  If you do that...whatever they're favorites and recent plays are will get automagically downloaded for you and then synced to your zune device, but the content would still be on your PC and won't be part ...

Nope...it only shows up if you are running with a debugger.  Do you have something unusual in one of your serial / usb ports that shows up as a debugger?
Are you running with the /debug option when launching windows?

Hi RDSIAM,
If you've unchecked the "Automatically update album art and metadata." option there's nothing the Zune software could be doing to add album art.  Do you use other media software as well, like Windows Media Player?

Hi eiptuningr32,
Soooo, that error message means that Zune can't play the file due to an unsupported codec.  In reading your initial post it looks like you uninstalled all your codec's which would pretty much kill the Zune software.  When you installed the AC3filter software and the K-Lite Codec pack, it more than likely overwrote the ...
