I'm a huge fan of The Filibusters in Seattle. I'm good friends with the guitarist, Dan, and have followed him on his other music projects. this band, though, is awesome. The lyrics are pretty cool, too, focusing on current events and other topics that affect peoples' lives.

If you're interested in punk rock, check out their MySpace page at www.myspace.com/thefilibustersseattle or their Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/home.php#/pages/The-Filibusters/104830890773?ref=nf.

If you're in the Seattle area, I highly recommend that you go see them; they are a live group of people and have a ton of positive energy that gets the crowd in it.

I've also written up some details of my experience of the band at: http://www.columnbreak.com/2009/08/filibusters-use-summer-to-break-onto.html.

I have their DVD In A Band, and it showed their glory days from 1994-2001, until the band split ...

But through out the DVD, they kept saying that they're a Punk band and not a Ska band, just Punk...

I mean come on! They have a trumpet, trombone, and a saxophone player! That is definetely Ska!

What do you guys think?

Punk or Ska?

These forums "look" dead, but i know they're not!

Adolescents new album!

Against All Authority

The Aggrolites new album!

Bad Brains? I heard something that they had to change their name to Soul Brains. Not sure exactly.

Warped tour '09 U.K. Subs, Fear, Adolescents,

Nothing nice to say. Its a web comic but its definetly hilarious.

Generally anything else im kinda buzzed. Im just trying to get something going on this *** except Good Charolette and people not knowing what punk/ska is.

If Billy Talent, Good Charlotte, Hawthorne Heights, My Chemical Romance, and all counterparts fall under the same umbrella as Minor Threat, Bad Brains, and the Descendents, I think it's safe to say the term 'punk' is pretty much useless. Yes, there are some genuine punk band out there nowadays, but even calling them that is pointless, because at this point, who ISN'T considered punk? I mean, honestly, it's criminal. I'm not putting any of these bands down, but I think they are seriously misclassified.
I was looking through my music by genre, and I saw Good Charlotte under emo. I think their more electro rock now. They already started changing in their album Chronicals of Life and Death (an example is the song Ghost of you) then they released I don't wanna be in Love from Good Morning Revival. When they were punk, I felt more emotion through their songs and meaning behind the lyrics. Now I just dance to their songs (seriously, I do extreme aerobics with their songs lol)
