Well the music industry is moving in to its slow period. Reflected with so few releases this week and how it will likely be until March when things start to pick up for getting those releases out before the Summer tour season. At least all but two of this weeks releases appear in in the marketplace and I am not sure in the Bring Me The Horizon enhanced version will be released in the states since Amazon switched up the info and all available dealers of the album have it listed as an import now. Sorry if I got any BMTH fans excited.

Next week is Thanksgiving week and I am going to be out of town starting Sunday so will try to remember to put together a Saturday post to cover what few releases their will be next week but won't have any marketplace info.

Nov 17-23

All titles in bold are available in one form or another on Zune marketplace at the time when I post this

Bring Me The Horizon – Suicide Season
(enhanced reissue) (original in marketplace)
Company Band – The Company Band (supergroup featuring members of Clutch, Fireball Ministry, CKY, and others)
Dark Tranquility – Where Death is
Most Alive
Devin Townsend Project - Addicted
Hollenthon – Tyrants & Wraiths
Skitliv – Skandinavisk Misantropi
Swallow The Sun – New Moon

Import now or wait until later to get
in US

None of this weeks listed imports had a domestic release date.

Disclaimer: These may or may not get added to Zune and may be removed
from the service at any time. The above is simply a list I compile
every week to help with dj chatter at my station and thought I would include it here to let my
fellower Zuners know of recent hard rock/metal releases. In no
way does it reflect every release just those listed in various sources
I use to compile the list. As always items are subject to change.
As far as tracking the Zune marketplace it seems Zune already had some contract in place with Metal Blade' reissue series with Amon Amarth and King Diamond as they continued to get added while new stuff continues to not be added. Since hashing what is happening in the marketplace is so boring and it is such a heavy reissue week I thought I would bring story time to my post this week though I thought the Katatonia and Throwdown are okay while all the reissues are worthy of being reissued. Well maybe not Unearth that album just came out last year!

So, Spring had just turned in 1992. The internet was still used only by scientists and college students. Peoples love of music was so passionate, like video games, that record stores would re-open at midnight (or stay open longer in the case of Tower Records - pour a 40 for them on their grave) on a Tuesday morning. This particular occasion my friends and I had shown up for one of the most anticipated nights.

Were we there to get a little 'Human Touch' from The Boss? No he could leave his album in New Jersey. How about to 'Get Rocked' with a touch of adrenaline from some Brit's who didn't know how to properly spell deaf or leopard? No we were still heart broken by the passing of Steve Clark. We're we hip to a certain French Canadian before she changed the world by covering a Dolly Parton tune for a movie we didn't want to see because we already knew how it ended? Maybe if it had been done in Dolly' original style or like Wanda Jackson; maybe.

We were there to be a thorn in the craw of record store clerks who had piles of these albums ready to go out the door. Our intention though was to make them go into the back and extend their bed times by making them dig for albums no one wanted but us. In this case one of them was one of this weeks reissues. AN album from the best selling band out of Antarctica (well they are really from Virginia), Gwar.

Why Metal Blade has chosen to go with this album rather then 'Scumdogs of The Universe' seems silly because 2010 is the 20th anniversary of their Metal Blade debut. Strangely enough about 6 months later America would feel destroyed by an album. Not Gwar' 'America Must Be Destroyed' but by the other album I picked up that morning. 'Cop Killer' from the Body Count debut would raise some cain as America feared a song more innocent then a song about killing ones mother would destroy the minds of music lovers everywhere. So remember kids a cops life is more important than your mom's. They do more to protect you from the bad men and strangers with candy. Now you know and knowing is half the battle.*shakes head*

Nov 10 - Nov 16

All titles in bold are available in one form or another on Zune marketplace at the time when I post this

AC/DC –
Backtracks
Amon Amarth –
Versus The World (deluxe reissue)
Anthrax – Among
the Living (deluxe reissue)
Anthrax – Caught In A Mosh: BBC Live
In Concert (not sure why it is play only at the time I post this)
Coalesce – Ox ep
Gaza – He Is Never Coming Back
Gwar – America Must Be Destroyed
(deluxe reissue) (original pressing on the Marketplace. No new tracks anyway the big sell is the album with a reissue of two of their DVD's included for one low price)
Iron Maiden – Collectors Box (3 disc set of interviews and such from my understanding don't think it has any music)
Katatonia –
Night Is The New Day
King Diamond –
House of God (remaster) (Not sure why marketplace keeps putting these albums under the original release year)
King Diamond –
Voodoo (remaster) (Here we have an entry for this year and the original year saying it is a reissue, you got me audiophiles why they are doing this)
Krallice –
Dimensional Bleedthrough
Outbreak –
Outbreak
These Are They –
Who Linger (ep with two tracks from this album available on marketplace if you wish to check 'em out)
Throwdown –
Deathless
Unearth – The
March (deluxe reissue) (original pressing on marketplace)
Witchmaster -
Trucizna

Import now or wait until later to get
in US

Nothing of interest this week. All stuff listed is coming out next Tuesday, without a domestic release date, etc etc etc

Disclaimer: These may or may not get added to Zune and may be removed
from the service at any time. The above is simply a list I compile

This week we get an answer to an age old question. Not really but it has crossed my mind now and then.

It has been 7 years (11 years since a full length record) since The Genitorturers have released an album while Morbid Angel has left us 6 years waiting for that evasive 'I' album. Since it was announced David Vincent had rejoined Morbid Angel some of us wondered what that meant for the band he has with his wife and we got kind of an answer this week with Genitorturers beating Morbid to the punch. Morbid Angel though has an enhanced reissue of what is my personal favorite death metal record of all time, Blessed Are The Sick! If you have missed this album you are missing a classic that showed that death metal really had no boundaries.

Oh yeah some guys in a band called Slayer and Morbid Angel contemporaries Nile have new albums this week too. =) Hypocrisy, Halford, and Epica have solid releases too. Looking forward to downloading the others I haven't heard yet and checking them out.

Nov 3 - Nov 9

All titles in bold are available in one form or another on Zune marketplace at the time when I post this

11th
Hour – Burden of Grief
Arkona – Goi Rode Goi
Defiance – The Prophecy
Epica – Design Your Universe
Geist – Galeere
Genitorturers – Blackheart Revolution
Halford – III: Winter Songs
Hypocrisy – A Taste of Extreme
Divinity
Morbid Angel – Blessed Are The Sick
(enhanced reissue) (think original version available in marketplace)
Nile – Those Whom The Gods Detest
Nocturnal Fear – Metal of Honor
Oppressor – The Solstice of Agony and
Corrosion
Savage Messiah – Insurrection Rising
Shadow Gallery – Digital Ghosts
Slayer – World Painted Blood
Various Artists –
Grind Madness At The BBC
Various Artists –
Swedish Death Metal (3 CD showcase of early Swedish death metal)
We Came As Romans
– To Plant A Seed

Import now or wait until later to get

I do not have much to say this week. 7 new releases and 2 King Diamond reissues are available for Zune pass subscribers while only one new release would have to be purchased. Not a bad week.

Oh and for whatever reason the King Diamond reissues were giving their original release year; so if you are looking for them, look there. BTW the reissues are Zune pass down-loadable while the original issued releases you have to buy for some reason, for you audiophiles, they are easily recognizable though because the newer releases have brighter artwork.

Oct 13-19

All titles in bold are available in one form or another on Zune marketplace at the time when I post this

This week most of the proper new releases are available in the Marketplace. Mostly just reissues still stayed away as they weren't available in the first place for the most part.

Some stuff added this week unfortunately you have to pay for even if you have the Zune pass. This is still a positive though because they are still available here and eases the pain if for some reason you have stockpiled MS points since they can't be used over at say, Amazon. Gist of the story always nice to have choices and like seeing it at least available.

Another trend I am noticing, Nuclear Blast again keeps its new releases out of the Marketplace. Sad to see this but they still aren't pulling older releases so this is a positive. Hopefully newer Nuclear Blast stuff will return eventually to being added on release day and these recent releases added.

Oct 06 - Oct 12

All titles in bold are available in one form or another on Zune marketplace at the time when I post this

Recommend me some good metal.

No screamcore. God I hate that stuff. Its ruining music almost as bad as rap is.

No melodic metal. It just doesn't do it for me.

Stuff I like? Look at my Zune profile. Thrash metal... you know Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, The Sword, Overkill, Testament, Savatage, Pantera, HellYeah, Tree, etc. all those bands are good, and the music just works...

So now I need more of the same...

Suggestions?

I picked it up on release day. I honestly don't think its a bit different from United Abominations, which really wasn't all that good either.

I've been listening to Megadeth since 1985 (Killing is my Business), and find them getting very trying now with the albums of the last 3-4 years...

I noticed that the Marketplace has two versions of the album. What, if any, is the difference between the two. I noticed one has an Untitled Track but it says it's unavailable. If they're both the same, are they both 320kbps? Thanks for the help.
