Hi, I was checking out the www.zune.net web-site and it mentioned something about a personal 4-digit unlock code.

I looked around the site and searched, and could find no explination about this. I remember something about this, I think when I activated my Zune player.

But what is this personal 4-digit unlock code. If I forgot what mine is, where can I find it in my player (I checked the instruction manuals, and found nothing), or how do I reset it and make a new one?

I looked on amazon.ca and found 30gb players. I looked on amazon.com(american) and found many players. Please remember they are in american dollars, and that right now our money isn't too bad (I am a Canadian). It seems to be a little bit of a stock pile. But going. I did read about the marketplace, and all ther other stuff posted here. So, People have to do what they do.

The mp3 format will also change. You know that a more losseless quality will come out. It's business and technology. I'm just waiting for it to come sometime soon.

I am trying to download apps from the Zune marketplace, but it says "To enable your cart, link your Zune to your Zune Tag on you PC." How do i do this? Is it not letting me because i live in Canada?

Zune content going international, is Canada included?

I just read that the Zune content is going international in 18 markets: US, UK, France, Germany and Australia. The article does not talk about Canada and I cannot find the original source of this news:

I have played with my Zune HD for about 3 weeks now and love it! There have been times where I have scratched my head and said "hmm... I guess it hasn’t been out long enough for that". Here are a few suggestions that I think would be helpful. I am not a software engineer so I do not know how possible each one would be.

Pictures:

1. I have all of my photo's in large folder with each event in a sub-folder (wedding, baby shower, bar night ect). When I go into the zune to find the pictures I want to show someone, the display is the title of the folder and a picture. I would like to be able to change that picture to one that is more appropriate for the event. There may be something already out there that does that but after struggling with it for a while I figured it was a minor bug.

2. Here and there I will have a picture where the file is saved as landscape and the actual picture is a portrait (landscape being horizontal and portrait being vertical). If I change the file on the computer, when the zune syncs, the picture is corrected. However, it would be much more convenient to change the picture right there on the zune, and then update the file on the computer during the syncing process. There have been a couple of times where I was showing off my zune and a weird picture comes up and I have to hold the zune in a weird way to look at it correctly. The usual response is a very sarcastic "... real cool".

TV: No complaints. This is an awesome feature. Makes me happy i bought a computer with a TV tuner!

Xbox: One of the reasons I bought the zune is because Microsoft says it "plays well" with the xbox. For crying out loud, it doesn’t "play" at all. Here’s a few things I was thinking would be really cool.

1. Real simple. If my xbox "see's" my zune on the network, let me avatar hold a zune in its hand.

2. Ipod has an app where you can see your xbox friends and what they are doing. I am sure there will be something coming out similar to that to show off achievements and everything. (being that the app was made my microsoft)

3. Netflix. I dont know if the technology is there yet. Instant streaming netflix is the coolest thing on the Xbox! If I could do that on my zune, it would blow the ipod out of the water!

4. It would be really cool to integrate games into the zune. For example, when using a sniper rifle on halo or any other first person shooter, it would be SO COOL if the zune could be attached to the controler and the zune display show the view through the scope. Or even, just a health bar, or a game logo or something.

Hardware:

1. It is possible to have a small speaker attachment?

2. It is pretty clear that the Zune HD can function as a hand held video game system, judging by the PGR app. If it is really going to compete, and be microsoft’s version of the nintindo DS or playstation PSP, it needs to have better controls. Even if there was an attachment that costs 100 bucks and make the zune as large as those 2 other systems, it would be so worth it. It would need a speaker (as I mentioned above) and some hard buttons. You could even make it look like a mini xbox controller.

I created this forum because I wanted an outlet for Zune HD suggestions. Please bear with me, this is my first time contributing.

i just changed my pc location to usa and opend my zune software and there it was marketplace with apps and games and everything i was so happy but it was too good to be true. as i tried to download some stuff it asked me to sign in so knowing i needed to make a new one i went about doing that, and a error message came up so i tried again and agian AND AGAIN and still nothing. i tried the troubleshooting thing but it game me no helpful info so if anyone can help me get some apps on my zune please do

BUT (there is always a ''but'' with microsoft) will it be out for canada for Xmas?
Because if its not out fro christmas, ill turn my head to Ipod (shame on me I know).

trouble with pictures, bio, and synching songs...

i've had some issues when it comes to transfering music to my zune hd...
first of all, i've been trying to get my zune to get some artists' bios and pictures into my zune but it just doesn't, no matter what i do... that and sometimes the songs just don't transfer at all (on the percentage transfer it appears 50% and then it just disappears and the song doesn't transfer)...
second, i know that ipods have the option of being able to put lyrics into a song, and that is something that i've always wanted in a zune... for example, in windows media player, on advanced tag editor, you have the option of putting lyrics into songs, but of course no zune has the option of being able to view the lyrics on the player itself...

what exactly is it that i'm after? 3 things...
1. zune giving us the option of editing the pictures that go into the zune (whether its uploading the ones that we want) and being able to change the background picture for each artist (some pictures are too big or just not good at all)
2. being able to alter the bio (sometimes i get a bio for a different person)
3. if possible, being able to add and view music lyrics for songs (maybe not so much add because you can do that with windows media player, but being able to read them on your zune, definitely)

Please Help Me!!!!!

ok, so last year around Christmas I'm sure you all remember how the zunes froze. Well, mine was one of the first ones to experience this problem. So, I went online to see if I could figure out the problem. Online I found a forum posted that suggested a "hard reset", which is where you take the zune apart and do somethin'-or-other to it to fix it. As I'm sure you have guessed by now...that doesn't work. So my question is: How do I fix my Zune? or How would I go about fixing it myself or taking it in somewhere?

Also, Microsoft said that I voided the warranty when I opened it up...so they can't fix it. And neither can Best Buy or any other electronic store. Anyway, any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Zune Upgrade Gone Awry ....

I wanted to pass along some information .... I'm on XP service pack 3

I just upgraded my Zune software to 4.0 and it would not launch all the way after the upgrade. The application wanted to launch but would error out with a laundry list of errors and close itself.

I tried everything that I could think of to quickly remedy the situation. I uninstalled the application and tried downloading the 4.0 software and re-installing it. I rebooted after removing the app and after installing it to make sure that all went well in the bowels of the registry .... but to no avail.

After doing this twice ... I was starting to freak out a little bit ... but decided to wipe Zune off my hard drive completely and try it again ....

The solution:

1. Uninstall the app from the add and remove programs function in the control panel.

2. Go through the the hard drive and remove all folders and files by utilizing the search function.

3. Remove everything out of the Prefetch folder.

4. Search through the registry for anything attached to the word "Zune" and delete those entries.

5. Reboot

6. Download / Re-Install the 4.0 software.

... and you are good to go ....

Apps?

Is Zune ever going to offer apps like Ipods do? I love my Zune but I am seriously considering switching back over to an Ipod because my friends with Ipods get so much more out of their MP3 player. The HD thing is cool, but hardly comparable.

My Zune is acting screwy.

I have the 1st or 2nd gen Zune and it seems to be acting like a child. I can be listening to something and push the volume button to turn it down and nothing happens, so I have to lock it and unlock it afew times for it to show me the screen and sometimes it'll work and sometimes it'll will show me the screen and it'll show me the lock icon even though it's unlocked. And the other it is always resetting and never updates my played music. What do I do? I'm too poor to buy a new one.

MS wanted to take sales from ipod and would have succeeded if they were not a bunch of short sighted jack offs. zune wasnt selling in canada so they started pulling out then basically just pulled the plug cuz things were not getting better, no duh they should have put something more into it. i love my zune i had the original 30 gb then recently got the new zune hd cuz i hate ipod, everybody loves it cuz its familiar and every one knows it. the service for ipod is good and what not so thats what people want. i told people about the zune hd and they said they never heard of it, but once i showed it to them they liked it, and 6 of my friends gave their ipods to their family then bought a zune of ebay and the only thing bad i hear is, where is the market place. MS pulled out to soon they need to advertise zune more to get use into the idea, then just sit back and wait for every one to relize that this is infact a much better mp3 player. they need to step their SH!T up. WE ARE CANADAIN AND WE ARE WAITING!!!!

Consider this instead. At least it's supported in Canada

i have a zune 8 gb and when i was recently at a futureshop i didnt see any zune products and after that when i went to best buy they only had a few accesorries but no actual zunes.. nothing .. even best buys whole little zune set up display was gone .. does anyone know why ? im praying that this is a good sign that the zune hd is coming out soon to replace these .. but one can only dream .. as much as i hate apple i am seriously considering buying an ipod touch if i dont hear anything about a candian release of the zune hd and marketplace soon

I have spent hundreds of dollars on the marketplace in music and music videos and now that i have had a few computer problems i have lost over half of my library!!! due to the fact i have reached the maximum number of downloads!!!! this is retarted and a theft by zune marketplace!!!! i will be boycotting zune market place from here on out!!! i will no longer purchase music from them!!! its a real shame becuase i love my zune and hate ipod, but now i might have to switch to the dark side!!!! Ipod here i come!!!

I can't seem to get podcasts

I don't know if this issue has already been addressed somewhere else in the forum, but every time I download a podcast I get get an error message saying it might have been moved, renamed, deleted or removed from Zune Marketplace. I don't know where they are being downloaded to, but apparently not to a place where my Zune can recognize it. Any help and/or tips?

Is anyone is SW ontario able to give me in person Zune tutorial?

ok so before my zune wudnt turn on one moring, so i left it unplugged for awhile, pluged it in and it turned on! i was relived...until 7 minutes later it turned off and wound not turn on, so i repeated the process again, tried a system restore on the zune, but when i push the button sequence it just turns off and not back on. i am holding the buttons down as explained on the article micro$oft and seems not to work. i think they should stick with windows and sofware..thats all i thought this would be soo much better than an ipod... HELLLP

Anybody take a good look at the Canadian Zune website? A few things I notice. First of all, it looks like they're really focusing on selling us the Zune "experience" since the homepage shows the software and no products. Next down the list is the Xbox / Zune service that's not even available yet. After that it shows Zune Originals which, if I'm not mistaken, has only a US website now at the moment so I don't believe we can order Zune Originals anymore. Weird. Of course, 4th on the "product" list is the Zune devices followed by accessories. Of course, we don't have Zune HD. Anybody find it strange they're advertising an "experience" they're trying to sell us with half of it missing or unavailable, or broken, and devices we can barely find to buy?

Next, there's the music tab. Why is there a music tab? We can't buy music lol. The social obviously is the only thing we can actually use on the website. I'm not mad or anything (I've been hit back from people lately because the Internet sucks at displaying emotions) I just now took the time to notice the website we have and find it odd. Should we even have a website at this point? Or maybe are they keeping this stuff up in preperation for things to come? Does the Canadian page need a change or should they keep advertising things we can't use?

Zune Apps Update?

I know that Microsoft had the idea of 'PMP' first and Apps second, but, I'd really like to see a push in developers to create apps.
