Windows 7 Media Streaming

Now that we can stream our own library to across the internet via Windows Media Player and our live ids- why not build an app for the Zune that let's me browse my local collection? Even if it was limited to only music and non-zune pass material (and while the Zune HD had a wifi connection) it would still be an awesome feature...until you build a 500gb Zune HD :)

VPN support and Auto volume adjusting

is there any plans to add VPN? would be awesome

and a feature to enable to hear all songs at the same decibel level would be great (because my ears start to bleed when a silent song is followed by something like Slayer)

Alarm Clock

What I reeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaallllllllly want and need in the next firmware update is an alarm clock. It could be nicely tucked away in Settings>Clock, and it would be so nice. You would set the time you want the alarm to go off, choose the playlist, and then turn off the Zune. The internal clock inside your Zune will wake it up at the set time and then play the playlist. I'm surprised there hasn't been one included already.

Zune HD needs Auto Volume Level, Customizable EQ and Loudness (Bass) Boost

I'm amazed that with all the processing power in the HD that it doesn't have these simple functions:

Auto Volume Level - Have you ever listened to classic/old music recorded at much lower levels and then shuffle into modern recordings which are at a much higher level? It seems that WMA and MP3 support a volume adjustment and WMP supports it

Customizable EQ - Fixed presets? Really? How about a 5 or 7 band EQ?

Loudness (Bass) Boost - I don't want to go deaf so I listen at very low volumes, typically at 1 or 2. At such volumes, the bass disappears.

I read somewhere that features like these kill the battery life but I'd give up some battery life for the above...

Some cool features that a lot of people want.

As i was going through the forum and i noticed that some a lot of people would like to see a lot of the same features on the Zune HD. Here is a list, tell me what you think:
1 - Download podcasts directly from the device.
2 - Flash support for internet browser.
3 - Sorting of videos, pictures and apps just like the music on device.
4 - More integration of accelerometer into device functionality.
5 - Better integration with Xbox 360.
Some of my favorites would include:
6 - Some kind of messaging support just like when sending a song or something you can write a little message with it, how about just the message?
7 - Just like the apps were modified to be able to change the display orientation, maybe we should be able to change the video playback orientation?
8 - Customizable screen saver. I'd like to have some kind of equalizer screen saver for when i'm in the car. Makes for great eye candy.
9 - Smart DJ on the device.
10 - Better file managing on device including file renaming, moving, editing, and more.
11 - Some kind of DJ mode where you could set up a playlist and do fade in and fade out when desired between songs.
12 - Online game playing, not just wireless, but online online.
13 - Device to device sharing.
Ok this is just a short list, fell free to improve on it as you see fit

Why not bring the awesome Microsoft streaming software to Zune?

People want flash too, but I'm sure royalties and such come into play, so add silverlight to Zune HD.

Is it technically possible?

I think eBooks on the Zune HD would be neat so that I don't have to go and drop another 200 on a nook.

I think it'd be a great app to be had.

Also different games that aren't...well... boring.

More acceleromoter on the Zune HD

I would like to see more things using the accelerometer on the Zune HD. Maybe something like if you tilt the Zune HD on it's side while in the music menu it displays the coverart of all of your albums in three rows like in Windows Media Player. Just cool things like that.

I watched the first epis. of a tv show and loved it so purchased the first 5 episodes on my xbox. then when i figured that i could go onto my computer, download them there and put them on my zune. problem is you cant!?!?! am i not reading this right or am i going to have to buy them twice just to watch them on my zune.

... also if you buy on the computer then go to your xbox you can download them there!?!?!?

New Releases For OTHER Genres on Tuesdays!

How about adding New Release album covers in OTHER genres? Right now it's just a few New Releases for "All" but there should be subsections for Rock, pop, Classical etc just like on the PC Zune software.

Please consider this because we are not always near our computers

I think that having the ability to shake our device would automatically send what we are listening to into a shuffle mode. Whether it be a playlist or a cd. Just a thought!

Zune Backup

I would like to see a way to back up the information on the Zune HD. I had recently had to restore my zune to fix a problem and I have lost all my saved games and had to change the settings back to what I did have before. If there was a back up I would have been able to avoid this annoying problem.

Dynamic Equalizer

I think it would be helpful as more and more apps and videos are being added if you were able to change the sorting option so that it mimics the music menu i.e if you were able to scroll from all apps, to ultlities, to games, ect...

One feature that i think microsoft should add to the zune hd is allowing gamers to use the device as a controller for certain games on the 360... for instance i would love to play forza by using the zune hd's accelorometer (did i spell it correctly??) to turn with pedals on the touch screen... just an idea

Additional edting / deliting abilities of playlists on Zune HD

Hello,

I was going through a playlist I created on-the-fly of my Zune HD. Then I realized I wanted to delete one of the songs in the list. I could not figure out how to do this so my thought is that it is not currently possible. My suggestion is to allow for one to delete songs from a playlist on the Zune HD (at least for those playlists created on the device). Other people may have other thoughts on editing playlists such as the ability to change song order...

It would really like to see a timer and stopwatch on the zune, I like running and listing to music, but I don't want to have to carry a timer/stopwatch too.

Microsoft, Microsoft, MICROSOFT, You talk about congruence on all "three" screens, the TV, the Computer, and the mobile device. Then you don't back it up. What company goes to take apple's iPod Touch and doesn't bring a dev population based app store, integrated email, calculator and a calendar app. I love zune dearly. I really don't care about the whole app marketplace set up, but i do want an integrated e-mail client. Yes zune is a media player. However, that, not even five years ago meant just music, now however, it means a device, that is able to play music, videos, and podcasts, browse pictures, the web, and a calendar app. So Media is zunes specialty, well if by media, you mean music, then yes, video, yes, pictures, yes, but the internet features of the zune HD are lacking, at best. Who makes an internet browser w/o a forward button? Who makes a browser, trying to compete wit the iTouch, and doesn't include tabbed browsing? I mean yes, you gave it internet, apps and games, but you need to work on your browser's java scripting and button layout, open up the app store to developers, and put an email/im client in the firmware. With those features, my iWhore of a friend wouldn't have anything to make fun of it for.
