I think it would be crazy if in the market place we could download themes for the zune kinda like how windows 7 or the xbox has themes but a little more deeper . Like a theme that would change the font ,word colors,background, and etc.

Purchasing Wishlist

Seems like this would be an easy thing to add:

Could the devs please add a wishlist feature into the marketplace. I have a Zune pass and every month I pick out the 10 tracks I want to buy from my collection so I can keep them permanently. Then I have to hunt through my songs the next month to find the next 10 I want to buy. If there was a wishlist I could add all the content I wanted, and buy them as song credits renew or as I get a little extra dough in the bank to spend on music or video. The favorites function sort of serves this purpose, but it's a bit of a hastle to differentiate purchased tracks from subscription content and cull out the tracks I want. And while the Zune markeplace is a joy to navigate, I don't like having to find tracks I know I want to buy all over again. So please developer Santa, for Christmas, please add a wishlist feature.

See which songs have been bought or not

I would love to be able to easily see the difference between the songs I have bought and the songs I have just downloaded with the Zune Pass. Right now, I can't remember which songs I've bought, so I have to go through every song and right-click on it and click "Buy" to see if it is already in my collection as purchased or not. This is a big waste of time, so is there some way for me to see a list of songs that have or have not been purchased? Thanks! I love Zune!!

Hi guys,

I am a former Zune hardware owner (left my player outside in 4 days of rain!) but still use the Zune software. Here's my magic wish list of features I'm requesting for Zune's desktop client:

* List total # of files, GB of files, play length (mins., hrs., days,etc.) of all files (as seen at bottom of "Music" section of iTunes library.)

* Support more types. Even with monitoring all my media folders properly, I still can't see...

-Quicktime .mov or .mpg (iTunes shows these so why not at least link to them, even if Quicktime has to open the file)

-Some .wmv files don't appear in my Zune video library but all appear in Windows Media Player (I don't understand this if they aren't DRM protected.) Why not support protected .wmv protected files that play in Windows Media Player?

-.avi They appear in Windows Media Player but Zune doesn't list them. Perhaps supporting DivX, XVid, or whatever files allow for high def. in avi will help.

By supporting more media file types, your Zune software's network sharing features will catch up to the number of files that Windows Media Player can share. Right now Windows Media Player is set to share to my Xbox 360 because it supports more files than Zune supports.

* Monitoring folders is amazing, but I'd love Zune to be able to copy/move media files to consolidate media library into a well organized folder system with artist name, album info, etc. (iTunes does this)

* Support scrobbling of music to Last.fm. There's a program called Zuse that does this (and crashes all the time) but how about an official one built into the software or is offered at Last.fm through a partnership? Microsoft just partnered with them for Xbox 360's dashboard. This was already requested on the forums!

* Can we bug fixes for the software in a short time after it's been fixed? There should be a balance between the frequency Zune's software updates (1 or 2x a year) to iTune's updates (every week).

* One request for the Zune.net site, how about RSS feeds of Zune activity so I can put it on my website or on FriendFeed? I mean things like recent artists, songs, albums offered via RSS instead of just the Zunecard.

Overall, nice software. I hope you can at least comment on if any of this is coming or if it will never happen and why. I apologize if you've answered these before. So...what do you all think?

International log in would be nice. Now that Zune is on Xbox 360, I can log onto Zune.Net using my Irish account, but I cant log into the software, and so I cant update my play count, view friends, etc. I'm not asking for the marketplace or anything to come here, all I want is to be able to share my play count with friends.

Is there any chance of this ever happening? I've been patiently waiting since I got my Zune almost 2 years ago.

I would really like to be able to rent a movie for 48 hours once I start watching. I often get home late and have time for half a movie tonight and the rest the next night. With lovefilm I get the DVD for as long as I want and I can watch it as many times as I like, although once is normally enough. I like the idea of instant access though and would switch to Zune if I could have a little more time to complete the watching therof.

Gtalk Music Plug-In for Zune 4.0

OK..I use G-talk..rather than windows messenger(which automatically picks up song from zune & displays it as status)..can we have similar feature/plug-in for G-talk..i want my my gtalk to display the song i am playing in zune as my gtalk status, windows media player has this plug-in..why not Zune????

Minor Interface Improvement

I'd really like to request that they do something to differentiate the buttons that say DOWNLOAD versus IN COLLECTION. Perhaps making the IN COLLECTION button colored somehow. It would be nice to see at a glance when looking at lists, albums, etc, all of those already in my collection. Right now they are both just white buttons and not very inituitive to know what's what at a quick glance.

Where's the support or feedback link to which I can send these little feature requests to? I'm sure MS wants their service to be better than iTOONs so listening to your members would be awesome!

Zune HD + SUBTITLES + Playback Speed & Tracking Control

I’m not sure how you fellows missed this, but I sometimes want to see subtitles in videos. More importantly, the actual reason I have a HD is that I want to listen to language lessons via podcast. Unfortunately it does not support the d*mn subtitles (or asian characters).

Also, when I’m listening to a podcast, why can’t I look at the notes/summary that is associated to each file? I can see part of it while selecting the file in the Zune and I can see it in the Zune Software. Why can’t I see it while the track is being played? (examples of why this is important: when listening to NPR- they have a summary of what is being talked about; in my lessons- there is a lesson outline)

Another simple & necessary features… in the play/pause + volume control window, make a little line with the current track’s progress in it, move a dot to advance to a certain spot in the track.

Also give basic options for play speed. .5x .75x 1x 1.25x 1.5x etc. (like in WMP)

Better support for multiscreen setups in windows 7

i use a dual monitor setup, and i know i'm not the only one who likes to put the music player full screened on the secondary screen while keeping my main focus on the main monitor. however, the Zune software doesn't play nice with dual monitors. i cannot simply drag the zune software to another screen easily.

i have to drag Zune so that most of the window is on the desired screen w/o aero snaptaking effect. once i do that i can make it full screen , however if i try to move the software by clicking the title bar area on the second screen it will jump back into a side aero snap on the main screen.

please fix this!! i love the aero snap feature of Windows 7, but i don't want to turn it off just because Zune doesn't want to play nice with it!

Adobe Flash and Microsoft ActiveSync Support

Adobe released Flash Support for the Tegra Chip and I would like to see that implemented soon. In this Web 2.0 age, Flash support is intergral. The fact that it is already out there and just not implemented is torturous.

Also, I would like to see ActiveSync implemented. Email connectivity would do a lot to put the Zune on par with the iTouch and iPhone.

If there is any sense of logic left, you'll remove the "duplicate songs" coding. Not tweak. Not look through and "optimize" or "fix bugs". TEAR IT OUT. COMPLETELY. It's useless and does nothing but waste my time and piss me off. 4.0 has only made this worse. Let me tell you a little story...

I went a-searching through my library today to eradicate the (2) menace (which is a bug unto itself, and plagues only the Zune data). Along the way, I noticed they were returning back into "hidden duplicate" status. So I go through again and tell it to show all "duplicates". So yeah, it showed again, MIS-TITLED. In fury, I sought to change the title to what it should be. The software responds by deciding that it's a duplicate again and RE-HIDES IT!
I know there's a percentage of the populace who've not laid eyes on Mega Man 6, but here's a tip: Flame Man and Tomahawk Man have different stages, WITH DIFFERENT GODDAMN STAGE THEMES! This is utter stupidity on the part of the Zune software! Five-year-olds on Commodore 64s don't make programming decisions this retarded!

Stream from the zune onto pc

Zune software should enable the zune to be played through any computer equipped with zune software.

Real world example.

I should be able to set my home PC as the main sync device and be able to plug the zune into the laptop and play the music off the zune without putting it on the laptop hard drive... this would be very handy.

No autoplylist sync

Autoplaylist does a great job of grabbing custom sets of music. The problem comes when it tries to sync the music on my device. I have a ton of music I don't want on the Zune, so creating a playlist that sort what's already on the Zune and not what is on my pc in the Zune software would be great.

Custom Album Order

It would be nice if the albums in the collection menu on the software could be rearranged in any order. I tend to listen to only a few albums at once, so I would like to be able to drag these albums to the top and move less frequently listened to albums to the bottom of the list. It's nothing critical, but it would be a nice feature to have. Thanks!

Smart DJ is my favorite feature of the new software. I think introducing a feature were it will refresh automatically upon playing a full playlist would be a great addition. I have about 25 to 30 smart playlists setup now for each of my favorite artist which I have set to update daily. The feature I've mentioned above would them make it like have 25 mini radio stations on my player at all times. But sometimes I don't get to listen to some of them on a daily basis and would love a feature where it would only update a playlist once it has played through a certain playlist.

Along with this, I have an autoplaylist set up with all of my favorite tracks (I have over 700 tracks set as favorites and my autoplaylist pulls a random number of 500 of them). It would be great to be able to set up autoplayists to be able to refresh like the Smart DJ playlists on a schedule (every day or every 5 days). My Zune HD seems to re-sync every time I play around with the software and it would be nice to just set autoplaylists with song limits to refresh a certain amount of days.
