This really isn't a content issue as much as it is a suggestion...I think Zune should add a Platinum Artist Badge for 10,000 plays of an indiviudal artist,,,album, too. You already have Bronze, Silver and Gold...Platinum is the next logical step...then Titanium for 50,000 and Kryptonite for 100,000. Well, at least you could start with Platinum and go from there. Cool.

Has anyone at MS thought about getting Zunes into coffee shops, bookstores, electronic stores, record stores, ect.? If such businesses would allow an 80 GB Zune, loaded with music, to be put in their stores and the music shared, it would increase Zune demand temendously. It would get the word out about music sharing, point out the advantages of Wifi, and give people another reason to buy a Zune over another MP3 player. To deter theft, it could even be set up with headphones and other audio output disabled, and no battery, so it would only act as a music server and would have to be plugged into a power source. They could be given away as a way to promote sales. Maybe they could refer to the areas with this type of service as 'Zune Zones'.

First, I love my Zune.

Now that that's out of the way...

The single worst part of my Zune experience is the lack of support for limiting the bit rate of music that is sync'd to the zune. WMP already does this and does it very well. I have burned all of my music as wma lossless. So, the first time I sync'd my music, it took up 70GB! It's ridiculous to take a step backwards in functionality to provide new software that doesn't work as well as the old software (wmp). Why can't the zune software be integrated into WMP? It has more functions than zune software and it's internet compatible as well. Host the Zune marketplace in the same fashion you host online music stores inside of WMP.

My other problems are buggy folder monitoring services for all media types.
This is my rant.
Let me introduce myself. I am a early adopting 360 owner, and a zune owner. Long ago I expierenced the hell of early adopting a MS prodct, but the rewards weere oh so sweet. Sick and tired of the same apple ***, I bought a Zune. My glee at the sleakness and the overall polish was incredible for the first few days was increbidle.
I soon realized that things were easy, as long as you didn't want to do ANYTHING.
To save time and space I expienced issues with:
Videos(so screwed up-5+)
Album artwork
Patching(still can't)
Extreme lag in Zune Software(renders comp nearly inoperatable, and nothing should do that, and my comp is decent)
Sync(lets not go there)(15+)
Format issues(converting video is HELL)
Podcasts(3+)
Zune software(In general)
Where the hell is custom playlists???

Ok. I don't want to give the impression I hate my Zune. Quite the contrary, I love it. But I am tired of seeing a product HALF DONE. The Zune is so buggy certain aspects are nearly unusable.
Another thing. Why try recreate a already awesome service. I am talking about Last.fm You will never be better than them, so just allow plugin support already so we dont have to resort to hacked scripts to scrobble to last.fm
I love what you have done so far. But my 250$ deserves a finished product. So I know it will take time, but I want these issues fixed, or next time I purchase a new tech product, I'll just go elsewhere.

Offline send Capabilities and Long Distance Sending-

The Zune should have an Offline Send capability. Customer should be able to send music and pictures even if the other end is offline or their Zune is off. Meaning that when they do turn on their Zune they get a “pop-up” saying that they have “__ New Messages” and the options could be “Open” and “See Later”. Also, the user should be allowed to send stuff Long-Distances in the US (Like Cell Phone sending to Long-Distance or Short) otherwise what’s the point if the user has to be a couple a feet away from the receiver to be able to send something?

http://s123.photobucket.com/albums/o320/asmaa117/?action=view&current=zunemessages.jpg

Why?

It’s very simple. My siblings, my friends, many of my classmates and I all have Zunes. I asked approximately 70% of them about what they think of Sending music and pictures. They all said it was a great idea that puts them a step ahead of I-pod, but the step that pulls them back is the fact that you have to be in a very close proximity to be able to send anything.

What are some ways the Zune player and a Windows Mobile device can work better together? I'm not referring to an imaginary "Zune phone", and I'm certainly not hinting or speculating about a converged device.

Instead, I'm wondering if there are any opportunities for us to improve the experience for people who use both devices (a Zune and a Windows Mobile phone). For example, viewing your Zune Social network in IEMobile, converting a Zune playlist into .WMA ringtones, converting Zune's artwork to Windows Mobile themes, showing your Windows Mobile contacts as pictures in Zune etc.

make antivirus and all that for our zunes

make it waterproof

put internet access on it

the ability to choose what songs you can sync to ur zune during wireless sync (possibly a list and song samples so you know what your syncing)

marketpace on the zune for ppl who cant set up the wireless sync or just dont want to

all video formats compatable with zune

all music formats compatable with zune

a battery extension you can plug into the port on the bottom of the zune so you can have extended battery life

a section of marketplace completely devoted to videos/movies/tv shows...ect.

think about it...you know how many ppl would go to zune?

this is the first time i've really checked the zune forums and i'm impressed, just as i was when i got my zune(before the new software), you seemed to have nailed it on the head with the "we're listening" post, but i'm just curious how's that coming along? my zune is awesome, but each time i use the software a little bit of my love for it dies, especiall if i'm tying to use it on my laptop (vista). so zune team, here it is, how about a progress report, is there a fix on the way, or is there going to be a rebuild that takes forever? or is there already a light at the end of the tunnel?
P.S. i was really impressed by that thread and the summary at the end, it's nice to know that you guys are actually working on these things based on what we say.
P.S.S. and just one thing, i'm sorry since it's probably addressed in the forum somewhere but i have a vista laptop and an xp desktop, and i'd love to be able to seemlessly link my zune software on these two computers together, so that my zune wouldn't even care which it was plugged into. is that possible, linking the zune software to another instance of it on another computer? this would be over a wireless network. and then being able to use either computer to update and edit your zune?

the player is amazing! no doubt! but it would be nice too have like a "just added" playlist that automatically put there the new stuff you just added! also stop the sofware from automatcally update your device...i like to fix my music carefully, all artwork, fix the names, year, album name, etc (it'd would be cool if i can also edit this info thru the Zune software), but i used it in 3 PC's (my lil bro's, my girl's and mine) and sometimes when i change computer it just erases some tracks no questions ask! i had to make my device as a guest in all 3 computers and still do some ***!!! another thing would be and "add to now playing" feature for the tracks, as well as adding videos to a playlist or making video playlists! also good thing should be creating playlists and erasing tracks from the device...

anybody has another suggestion???

I think it would be great if MS could develop a program similar to apples running tracker program. How sweet would it be if there was something like that to go with the zune 4/8. How cool would it be to have something like that. I'm sure nike is out (thank god) because they are linked w/ apple. How about something with a sold running shoe company like adidas or new balance?

Of course I won't hold my breath for anything like this seeing as how we have had new zunes for a few months and accesories are still slowly trickling into stores. Get in the game MS!

I subscribe to the Marketplace and really like that feature. However I have a suggestion regarding the New and Necessary portion of the marketplace. As I use the Marketplace I am finding that the current new and necessary area combines the brand new music with songs that have newly been added to the site.

For instance right now on Country under new and necessary there is a Restless Heart CD that came out in the 80's or 90's. It may be new to the site but not a new CD. My suggestion is can we have an area that displays all of the new songs/albums for the week and a new to the Marketplace section where the re-releases and older material would go?

Thank you.

I am tired of seeing some of my friends with their ipods always doing things on the internet and downloading lots of new apps for their ipod. They have all kind of games and apps to make their ipods great. Why don't they give the zune the internet in a firmware update. It would add a whole lot to the zune! Youtube viewing would be great, along with other great services: the weather, email, facebook, ect.

I like the Zune a whole lot better than the ipod, it is by far a better player; however, it is far behind the times, it always has been. To get accesories for my zune I have to get them offline. I get to stand on the side lines and look at all the new features the ipod is getting. When is microsoft going to catch up and take the market. All my friends are converting over to zune because they also like the player better. We are just missing the cool features.

Microsoft please add some really cool features to make the zunes look outstanding!

Just wish I knew WHY Window Media Player plays '.wma' and Zune does NOT

And, if NOT going to, why NO CONVERTER?

Not many people will argue when I say the current Zune
software is poor. I am slightly confused why the Zune team doesn’t use Windows
Media Player 11 as a base. WMP11 is one of the best media players out there.

It would be great if the next version of Zune software was
not an entirely new program, but instead an extension (like a tab) in WMP. The
Zune marketplace could still be a separate place under a ‘Zune Tab’ in WMP. I just
think using WMP as a foundation would be the best possible thing the software
team could do.

Zune did. Some of the best groups are really going above and beyond expressing their songs in mind blowing or just plain thoughtful videos. Where are they on Zune Marketplace--nowhere. Sadly you have a great device for a mens of playback of sight and sound; sound I will rate the Zune team as up and coming but for video--no rating is possible.

Can you kindly post the why's and wherefor's that prevent you from having the entire Radiohead, Pearl Jam, U2, Bob Dylan and the Boss in video format as they have embraced this means of of artistic expression. Sadly your competitors seem to have cleared the hurdled that is preventing you for logging a video library. Is it cost? Is it lack of demand? Is it some kind of legal obstruction. You are MICRSOFT. You are the BIGGEST KID ON THE BLOCK.It

I guess when I run around with one of the greatest technological devices ever created I expect even more. Tell me straight up if my expectation levels exceed the promise of this wonderful innovative and deeply brand effective widget? It is not a widget--send in the videos! It's a waste of the glass screen, the size of the screen and the ability to play it through a TV.

You are standign on the verge of convergence, don't got WiFi or WiMax until you have the content you can dream up to fill this cup.

6,000 songs uploaded to a device, 50+ songs purchased through marketplace and less than 10 Videos worth the cost of admission.

How sad. And there I was poised at my PC ready to strike the download button when you had Yahoo! (content rich) only to give it up to Rupert Murdoch. I guess the revolution will not be Televised: peace Gil-Scott Heron my poor jailbird. I feel for you brother.

So "What's is gonna be Zune God's and Godesses? Buy Viacom and take over 120 minutes, headbanger ball and Yo! MTV Raps and give us the videos!

Suggestions if that is not possible are encouraged because I love this f'ing device. It's just not fair. I will work for you with a highly leveraged salary on gettig the videos over--deal?
