First off let me say I really do like my Zune and it is/was extremely frustrating to get it going (syncing). I, like so very many on this message board, was running into the C00D11CD and C00D124D errors. After trying every single fix posted on this forum and just about every other message board that is Zune related to correct my sync issues I think I found an answer (at least it seems to be working fine for me). The sync issues are definately a software/device driver issue and not hardware related, which makes me kind of laugh when I think of how many Zunes Microsoft has taken in for warranty repair or sent out new sync cables to fix the issue. It's a USB 2.0 compatibility issue. Hopefully Microsoft fixes it soon. Here's the simple fix that worked ME and hopefully a few other folks out there as well:
These instructions are for Windows XP users (Vista users can try this as well), and this fixed MY Zune sync issues I can't say it will fix everyone elses. By the way this addresses the issue of syncing your Zune via USB, not if you are syncing your Zune wirelessly. Click START and go to RUN. In the RUN box type devmgmt.msc and click OK this will open Device Manager. Scroll down through the list of installed hardware and locate Universal Serial Bus Controllers and click the + sign next to it. This will branch out showing you the USB devices, ports, and hubs installed on your computer. Find the one(s) labeled something along the lines of USB2 or USB ENHANCED Host Controller (depending on your motherboard and the drivers installed you might have more than one with the ENHANCED label, disable it each of them and you can enable them one by one to isolate the exact controller that your Zune is connected to). RIGHT click on it and choose DISABLE. This disables USB 2.0 support in Windows, now it might take a few seconds or so but it will disable and then you should hear the familiar ding that you plugged a USB device into you computer. With that done simply connect your Zune and attempt to sync it. That's it. If you still have an issue syncing after trying this fix, disconnect your Zune and reboot it by holding the <- (BACK) button and the UP button on the touch pad and reconnect your Zune after it has loaded the main menu screen.
This will however disable ALL USB 2.0 on your computer, forcing all devices to run at USB 1.1/1.2 speeds. The main drawback for those that don't know is instead of a transfer rate of 480Mbps you are knocked down to 11Mbps, your Zune transfer music slower than it should. So you can choose to do this everytime you want to sync to keep your other USB 2.0 devices running at full speed when you use them and simply throttle your system back when you want to sync your Zune. Just go back to Device Manager and RIGHT click on your ENHANCED controller and click ENABLE to turn USB 2.0 back on again.
Now, my Zune syncs fine on another computer without this fix, so that elimates any Zune hardware related issues or sync cable issues. I have tried multiple sync cables, multiple USB ports, uninstalled and reinstalled the Zune software and the firmware, wiped out my Zune completely and upgraded the drivers, downloaded all Microsoft Windows Updates and this was the only thing that fixed my problem. So basically I have done everything in the concievable norm to fix the issue before trying this which makes me pretty certain this could fix the issue for a lot of other users as well. Good luck, and I hope this can fix a few other people's sync issues.
