Video Question
So videos do or do not have to stay on your computer?  I just deleted a movie off my computer last night (because I ripped it in the wrong audio Japanese) and when I hooked my zune up the video was not taken off of my Zune......

re: Video Question
May be wrong, but im 90% sure they don't have to stay on your computer. Just depends on how you set it up on the software under settings? I DO know for a fact that if you have your settings to manually manage your music/videos, if a sync group exsists on your zune, it Will sync.

re: Video Question
Well it's something that I find intresting.  I have my DvDs ripped as mp4 and beings i have a Zune 30 they are converted to wmv on the hardware itself.......I'm borderline confident I can actually delete them and be okay but I don't want to risk it yet.

I believe as soon as you tell it to sync to your device it then becomes part of a sync group...so whenver you delete it it deletes off the zune as well

I have my 8GB set to only sync videos I select, and my 80GB is set to sync all videos. I tried several ways to delete a video from the computer without it deleting from the zune, and every time it deleted it from the Zune as well (I do realize there are ways around this...but wanted to see if it would work without using those workarounds).

with the Zune set to sync only the videos I select I tried the following:
set a video to sync with the device, which of course adds it to the zune, then I deleted the video...the video was deleted from the zune as soon as it is connected. I also tried deleting it outside of the zune software while the software was not running...same results. I also tried to just remove the sync, but that just deletes it off the zune as well. There might be other scenerios I haven't tried.

Couldn't you just create a copy of the mp4 and place it in another folder, then try deleting the original to see if it deletes from the zune? Or does it just take forever to transcode the mp4 to wmv onto the Zune...if so I can understand not wanting to risk it and then have to wait for it to sync.

re: Video Question
It takes forever to transcode.  The only thing I can come up with is that i deleted my zunestore.sdf file earlier in the night because the software was having recognition problems with Ghost in the Shell and Ghost in the Shell 2 (i wouldn't read the latter) ~shrugs~ it's intresting and might be the reason I can delete videos from my HDD now and not worry about them being deleted from my zune.

re: Video Question
I ended up having to delete the zunestore.sdf file at one point as well. I don't even mess with using the Zune Software to identify songs and such, I just use windows media player. Once I was downloading an album from the marketplace...it was a "greatest hits vol.2" type album, well half the songs went into an album called "greatest hits vol. II" lol. Now I have both WMP and the zune software set to only update missing info. So far it seems to be working pretty good for me. I'm still finding a track here or there that's goofed up from before, but at least now my changes are sticking!
