Can't buy music on marketplace

Has anyone had a problem purchasing music from marketplace?  I tried to buy a couple of songs last night, got an error message, and it still depleted my microsoft points.  Any help would be appreciated.

I am having the same problem, except it isn't deleting my points. I've tried downloading a lot of different songs, but to no avail. I'm am confident that it will be fixed soon, though, because what's the point in updating the marketplace so no one can buy any music from it?

re: Can't buy music on marketplace

two things to try:

goto www.zune.net and login.  click on social > my account and update your billing and contact info.

if that doesn't work, try http://support.microsoft.com/kb/928105/en-us

re: Can't buy music on marketplace
Yeah dude... tried it.   I know the billing info is fine because I just added MS points to my account.  As for the KB article, well everytime I do that a little yellow exclamation pops up and used to say the DRM was Corrupted (C00D11E2).  I figured out how to fix that pretty easy by deleting the DRM folder and letting MS regenerate it.

Then it said that it couldn't read the file (C00D002F).  So I figured the corporate LAN had it blocked.  So I switched the wireless on and picked up a different connection that's outside the firewall.  Same problem.

Installed WMP11 and all the windows updates I could find.  Now I get a message saying my Zune pass is on too many computers already, and to remove it from one (C00D12D7).  But there are no computers or devices listed in my account - I just bought the pass, and I only have one laptop and one zune here with me at work.  This really doesn't even make sense because it even gives that error on songs that I've purchased with points??

So I'm stuck.  I called Zune Support and they told me "it's been escalated to Microsoft.   Call back if it happens again."  AWESOME!  DRM freaking sucks.  If they would just give me the effing MP3 I would not have this problem.

Well I still don't have my music even though they said the problem would be fixed in two weeks two months ago. Funny how it manages to take your points though.

re: Can't buy music on marketplace
I've had the same problems, called Zune, was given instructions on running the Windows Installer Clean-up Utility, which I did, reloaded the Zune software...and it didn't fix the problem.  So in all, probably 1.5 hours of my time wasted.  I called to complain again and to get a refund.  I didn't want any more of their offered help on how to fix this, already having bought something that didn't work and spent my time trying to fix a Microsoft screw-up.  The Zune help people told me that they don't give refunds.  So now my choice was just to write my $25 off or to keep trying to fix this bug.  I told the help woman that I'd like to know what state Zune is in so that I can contact the state's attorney general's office with a consumer rights complaint.  She wouldn't even tell me what state Zune was in!  She said I had to hire a lawyer and the lawyer could contact their lawyer and then they'd give my lawyer the address.  So it looks like to me that this is either a scam or bordering on a scam, to sell something to someone with no way to use it outside of investing inordinate amounts of time and also no way to get a refund.  Pathetic, pathetic customer service and support.  More important to Microsoft to rip people off than to have satisfied customers.

My advice to anyone thinking of buying a Zune...DON'T!

Agreed that cust. service is suck for the Zune.  The trick is to make them stay on the line and escalate you until you get to a level 3 tech (i.e. an American).  She didn't know what state "Zune" was in because she's in a call center in India.  Make them stay on the line as you try out fixes (or don't and say you did) and just say nothing worked.  Eventually you'll get to talk to a real person.

Here's a hint on that - read the back of your Zune, in tiny letters it says "Greetings from Seattle" or at least mine does.  Zune = MS by the way - it's not a subsidiary of MS or anything.

What's the -actual- error you are getting anyways?  Most of them can be fixed - if you dig thru the forums there's a ton of info from the users.  Search for your specific error message or code.  If it's not here, post it or check google.

Save your frustration for some other board.  Everyone here is in the same boat.  I have 2 Zunes - one new and one from the original release.  I bought the second one even AFTER I spent no less than 2 weeks getting my original Zune to work.  Why?  Because I'm a software engineer and I don't care.  I just like toys.  I have iPods too.  And Samsungs, and several Nokia music fones (not the stuff you see in stores) and a Blackberry and ... guess what?  They all suck.  That's right - every mp3 player I've played with is a piece of crap.  All of them.  And they ALL have DRM issues - it's just flawed.

No one is forcing anyone to use marketplace either.  Go buy MP3's from Amazon's store and forget about marketplace.

That is my problem too. I have spent numerous hours on the phone with zune and the problem still exists. I'm not talking 2 hours I've spent 30 or more trying to figure out the solution After a while it was as if they avoided contact so that they did not have to deal with a problem and/or refund the money that is basically useless for me since i cannot spend it or do anything with it.

re: Can't buy music on marketplace

I'm with you bro.

I got 4GB model as a gift, and I'm returning it tomorrow. Typical Microsoft; confusing, awkward, slow, nearly impossible to navigate. After 6 hours of opening accounts, downloading tom of sofware, re-downloading tons of sofware I still can't download music with the Microsoft points 1 was given. It keeps wanting me to subscribe for $14.95/month. There are literally 100's of complaints on there own web site, what does that tell you? It might make a nice paper weight, but as an MP3 player it's not worth the aggrevation. I'm not throwing more money away on this POS.
