How often is the Video Folder monitored / (list refreshed)? (~4 hours?)

Changes made to music files (tags, deletions, additions, etc) seem to show up almost instantly in the Zune software.

Videos are another story.

New video files seem to take forever to show up - I had to leave Zune software open overnight for PART OF the video list to show up. It is as if new videos are scanned every 4 hours or so... Is this the case? Is there a way to "F5" this list?

My media folders are on a Network Drive (mapped to a letter, eg "Z:\Videos" and "Z:\Music")

Normally, I will drag and drop to get around the monitoring.  Open up the software and go to Collection --> Video.  You should now be able to find your file in Windows Explorer and drag it to the Zune window.  Ensure your mouse changes to a + and drop it.  It should show up immediately.

 

You have to be on the Video tab to drag video.  The same can be said for dragging and dropping music.  You must be on the Music tab.

thanks for the fast reply :)

I hope this does not copy / duplicate video files though right?

I think the software should refresh faster than this to folder changes ... it does for music and pictures...

I am still curious about this!

I can't drag files to the software to "force update" any more.

 

I JUST realized that the issue occurs if videos are added while the software is CLOSED (which happens a lot - my software is not open all the time). Now.. if I manually "rename" a video in the folder, then Zune software "KICKS IN" and all the new videos appear.

This does appear to be buggy / not as expected.

Expected: when software launches, it checks for new videos in the folder, and lists them. no rename required.

old thread, still same pblem

video folder is a network share

video lst does NOt UPDATE ...or maybe once every few hours.

'dragging' into zune window does not work since a couple of software versions ago (no + sign)
