Problems getting 4.0 to open

To start let me explain my situation. Several nights ago i needed to restore my computer to a previous day but inadvertantly hit restore. When I did that it wiped out a lot of stuff. Trying to get Zune software back on my computer is posing problems. I can install the software but when it starts to open i get one of those send error report to microsoft. It doesnt give me any type of problem code or anything. Now ehn trying to get all of my update for windows done it will not install ,net framework 3.5 service pack 1. Would my problem be in there with ,net framework 3.5 SP1 not being there? Any advice to try is greatly appreciated. If there are any questions i will do my best to answer. I've tried to uninstall and reinstall several time with the same results.

The Zune software definitely needs NET Framework to run (in fact a lot of Windows programs need it to work)

I'm not exactly sure how to get it to work though, you could try a manual update from Microsoft Downloads rather than trying through Microsoft update

I can get them to download but for some reason they (2.0 and 3.5 service packs) won't install. I don't want  to have to do a total format. I've been working on this for 3+ days now.
