No picture when trying to output via headphone jack.

Hi, i recently purchased a second hand zune 80. After loading a couple of videos on it, I then tried to watch them on my TV using the AV cable. The problem is that after selecting TV out in the display menu the screen goes black but nothing shows up on the television. The strangest part about this problem is that when connected to the AV dock it works without any problems. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Are you using a zune AV cable or a std AV cable? They're the same except for one tine and annoying detail... MS changed the color coding on the TV end of the cable. Std cables are red=right, white=left, and yellow=video. Try one at a time until you figure out video, then of course the other two are audio. I can't remember the MS color scheme...sorry.

I'm using the AV cable that came with the zune dock. I've tried standard AV cables but got the same result.

well, then it's not the cables... reboot the device, make sure you set the output to TV (and don't shut it down after that..it resets itself to normal viewing) and if you still get no TV output, it would seem to be time for a service call.

Thanks for the suggestions, but none of the tips i've found online seem to work (resetting, switching up the cables, etc...). I'll try reinstalling the firmware, hopefully that helps. Sending it in for service would probably cost me more than i paid for it, so that's out of the question.
