When playing a multi-disc album, the Zune PC program sorts tracks by the disc number tag first and then by the track number tag. This is the correct way to sort them. The Zune device, however, sorts tracks by track number and (as far as I can tell) completely ignores the disc number, with the result being that if I am playing a three-disc album, the Zune will play the tracks in this order:
(Disc 1, Track 1), (Disc 2, Track 1), (Disc 3, Track 1), (Disc 1, Track 2), (Disc 2, Track 2), (Disc 3, Track 2)....
Or maybe not that exact order. The ordering of tracks with the same track number and different disc numbers may be completely arbitrary, rather than by ascending disc number. The point is that they definitely do not play in album order. With many albums, this is a minor annoyance at worst, but it can be a pain when the order of tracks is important. For example, I may be listening to the soundtrack of a musical, which case tracks from the first and second act will be interspersed, which is decidedly not what I want. I imagine that there's a similar issue with audio books and lectures and whatnot.
