re: Zune 4.0 and FW 3.20 (35) Broke my Zune...

So I used to be the proud owner of a first gen 30g Zune... Now I'm one of the many people that got screwed over by the latest Zune software and FW update, 4.0 & 3.20 (35). I wouldn't mind reformatting my Zune if it it wasn't for the fact that my computer crashed a couple of days after I updated my Zune and I had to restore it. Now, I have no way of recovering my 15+gigs of music that I had been collecting for years because the "copy to my collection" method freezes at 0%, even when I try to drag 5 songs at a time.

Microsoft doesn't seem to be addressing the issue at all so all I'm wondering is if there's any way to get that music off my Zune and into my freshly reformatted computer through any other method or software that I'm not aware of? Like I said, "Copy to my collection" is out of the question as that method gives me the error code "C00D124D" and then tells me to restart my Zune. I'm in desperate need of help and I'm willing to try anything because I really cant afford to reformat my Zune...

Try reinstalling the Zune USB drivers.  With your zune connected, use step 9 from this article:  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/944909
This seems to be a common fix, although not universal unfortunately.

Okay, so I tried reinstalling the Zune USB drivers as stated on that article but it yielded the same results as before after I tried to drag a few songs into my collection... To be more specific, there doesn't seem to be a problem with adding files to my device via syncing. The only time it starts to act up is when I'm playing them or when I try to take them out.

Does anyone know how often we get software or FW updates for Zune btw? It's been about a month or more since the last update was rolled out...
