WTF Microsoft?

Alright I'm in a venting/ranting mode right now.

Alright I recently just bought a 32GB Zune HD and I've been trying to install the software for a few days now but it won't install, after talking to someone on the technical help line they said that my windows media center was too old(2002) and that I needed the 2005 version and to contact Dell(My laptop brand), to get the software needed to download to get it, only problem with that, is that I need it by 8:00 AM tomorrow for a trip I'm taking and the Dell line I'm supposed to talk to closed for the night and it's impossible to get the 2005 windows media center.

My question is why did microsoft make it so hard for people without windows 7 or vista to get the zune software?

Or if there is another way to get windows media player 2005 please tell me.

oops...  media center 2002 is extremely old, and hasn't been supported on zunes for at least as long as I've had mine (12/07.)  Sorry- but I don't know any faster way than what you're already doing except to buy win7 or vista at retail and install.  But, if you have (had?) an 8AM deadline, you'd have had to do that last night and give up a lot of sleep upgrading your PC....which may not even be win7 or vista compatible if it's that old.

The link said center - either way it is the MSoft download center - all that he needs should be there.

Just did a "bing" search and posted the link - the simple fact is you can find the update on that site if you care to look.

(sigh) - You never had to upgrade your software, you could have stayed exactly where you were, so there is NO WAY you plugged in your Zune and were required to update.  I think your just another iPOD guy here making posts.  This is your 1st post ever, all caps and in a threat to complain not to ask for help.

So  - here goes - You get better quality music at WAY cheaper prices with a Zune - You want a handheld that plays games and does apps then you go right ahead and keep your ipod.

You want help then simply ask for it.   - you would have learned that there is more than one like to upload the desktop software.  But you never did ask did you?

Oh and all your friends have iPODS don't you want have the same average MP4 player that they all have?

I'm not stepping into this debate; but I do have a very simplistic and naive question.

My 14 day free pass with new Zune sign up, I thought it meant that I could download music for the next 14 days; However it dawned on me (go ahead and think it...), all this music I've been downloading....., I'm going to pay for it....right?

There is NO free lunch, even when the word "free" is used so, well, freely.
