Recently I've taken a lot of long road trips with a buddy of mine. We both have Zune Pass and 120 Zune's. The dissapointing part, is that we can only use one Zune to play music in the car (obviously.) The real downer, is that if we use my Zune, my buddy doesn't get credit for listening to a song, and vice a versa. It would be nice if there was a way for me to get credit for the songs i listened to from my buddies Zune while we were both in the car. I have a couple of ideas on ways to accomplish this:
- Perhaps my buddy could pull up my friend profile and I could guest login to my buddy's Zune
- Use the wifi connection. Put both devices into Roadtrip Mode. One device is set as the primary, and one as the listener. As long as both of these devices are near each other, and one device is set as the listening device, it partners whatever music the primary device is playing, and both devices get credit for playing the song
- Record song plays from FM identification? One method we use for playing the Zune in the car is the Zune FM transmitter. We noticed this transmitter broadcasted song meta data to the head unit in my car. I could have also attempted to tune my Zune into that transmitter and listened on that station if I knew I got song play credit for listening to FM songs.
Basically, I'm a fan of the medals and play counts, and I've listened to a lot of Zune music that I haven't gotten credit for because we were listening as a group. I think If Zune were to create this feature, it would be a significant new feature, and really help differentiate itself from the iPod. Anyone agree?
