I've had a Zune since the first gens and bought a second gen afterwords. Don't want the third gen - I'm afraid of running into the same issues I've been dancing around for 2-3 years with this software.
This will be my third & final time reformatting my Zune 80 in 48 hours. My Zunes firmware, like always, crashed a few days ago so I rebuilt it. After listening to my Zune at work...I noticed an album had artists that shouldn't belong on the album. (IE: I was listening to Breaking Benjamin then Westside Connection started playing.) So I decided to dance around this issue like usual and delete all the songs that are associated with the wrong album. The album didn't exist & the songs associated did not either. After finding the ACTUAL album on the device the album displayed 0 songs. I couldn't delete it so I reformatted & resynced. This time it's done the same thing but better. All of my albums are completely disorganized & some songs/artists/albums don't appear...HOWEVER, the software would claim otherwise. My music IS there but on the DEVICE it does not exist.
I'm pretty sure this is occuring when I sync with multiple databases that I link my Zune tag to. This is has been an ongoing issue and has never, ever been resolved for me. In fact - if I've posted any issues on this board they have never been resolved. Not sure if these issues are being 'masked' or 'band-aided' but I still fail to see any resolution.
No - Windows Home Server does NOT work in this situation. Doesn't matter if I have an issolated single database; I will ALWAYS time & time again run into this issue. I've taken multiple approaches to repair this myself but alas, to no avail, I created nothing but unsheathing fury for myself.
Any ideas?
EDIT: Now that I think of it...this became even more of an issue when Zune implemented sync "groups." I can no longer just sync one album at a time - instead it tries to sync the whole directory. (WHY!?!!??!!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!!!!!) Is there a way to disable this option?
