zune in canada a self fulfilling proficey

MS wanted to take sales from ipod and would have succeeded if they were not a bunch of short sighted jack offs. zune wasnt selling in canada so they started pulling out then basically just pulled the plug cuz things were not getting better, no duh they should have put something more into it. i love my zune i had the original 30 gb then recently got  the new zune hd cuz i hate ipod, everybody loves it cuz its familiar and every one knows it. the service for ipod is good and what not so thats what people want. i told people about the zune hd and they said they never heard of it, but once i showed it to them they liked it, and 6 of my friends gave their ipods to their family then bought a zune of ebay and the only thing bad i hear is, where is the market place. MS pulled out to soon they need to advertise zune more to get use into the idea, then just sit back and wait for every one to relize that this is infact a much better mp3 player. they need to step their SH!T up. WE ARE CANADAIN AND WE ARE WAITING!!!!

You must be new to the forums, because we've all heard this stuff a million times. We get it.

And if your friends really want the marketplace (don't we Canadians pirate everything? lol) tell them the video portion of Marketplace is coming next month. I'd bet podcasts, games and apps would follow. The music portion still has no word. I have yet to meet somebody who doesn't use limewire or similar P2P program though. Except me of course lol.

Of course they will, it's rediculous to think otherwise. Zune is an alternative. Doesn't mean they should stop making them. Do you see Sony, Sandisk, Samsung, etc pulling out of the PMP market? Why is Microsoft any different than the other brands?  Anyone who actually thinks a Zune is an "iPod killer" is living in a fantasy. There is no iPod killer.

Who cares if Ipod gets knocked off?  I just want choice and the HD is a better piece of hardware.  The masses are morons anyway and often garbage has mass appeal or there wouldn't be any fast food restaurants or Denny's in business.

It's an excellent unit.  I pretty much like everything about it from the video quality to the music to the fantastic interface.  I haven't done much web browsing but once they have flash support I'll be going to youtube lots. I'm confident the apps will be coming soon and then it will be perfect.

re: Re: re: zune in canada a self fulfilling proficey
Here i comes with my opinion. I live in Canada (in Quebec ^^) and im waiting sooo much for the Zune HD.

I think that Zune HD has the potential to kill Ipod. I mean, cmon, without optimized 3D engine it can run Quake 3 with AA, the Zune has 8 core processing and one in that is a GPU. It has radio and more stuff that Ipod doesnt have...But everybody knows what makes ALL the difference : The lack of support from microsoft, the lack of application even if the zune is 3x more powerfull than the Ipod.

Yes it COULD be an Ipod killer, but won't, because we know microsoft, and we know that they won't support Zune and developper...
---------------------------------------------------------------

Ok forgot what I said, and asnwer to that question: Is there a way to ''import'' a Zune HD to canada being SURE that the unit works and is BRAND NEW (because i know that 1 unit on 1000 was not properly working)

Re: zune in canada a self fulfilling proficey

I am as keen as the next guy to get Zune Marketplace in Canada. Over the past few months I've watched responses to this topic range from rage to apathy. I think its safe to say Canada WILL get Marketplace (and Zune HD). The WHEN is always problematic. I really don't think Microsoft will pull the plug on the untapped local market that we provide.

To place things in perspective with the many natural comparisons of Zune's rollout vs. iPod: iTunes was aviable in the US 1/2001 but only came to Canada sometime around 12/2004. Reasons for the delay was copyright laws, etc. Microsoft is facing the same hurdles. We may be in for a wait (i hope not 3 years!).

Optimistically, I woud love Microsoft to launch both Zune HD and the Zune pass in Canada for Christmas. If not, I can either drive the 2 hours to Washington state and hand Best Buy USA my hard earned loonies. I am resigned to wait if I have to as this is not effecting my enjoyment of my Zune 120 overly much.

Well said. However, it's already been over 3 years.
