Update Player Info - unit will not sync no matter how many times I sign in.

I am having an issue syncing a second device that has been on my account for about a year now.  I have never had this issue up till now and have successfully synched it hundreds of times before.

Over the weekend, I took a trip out of town - before I left I synched a few new songs from Zune Pass which played fine the first day.  On the second day, ALL of my Zune Pass content suddenly became unavailable with the message that I had to sync the unit in order to reaquire the rights to the Zune Pass content.

Upon connecting the unit to the computer I always use to sync, nothing happened.  The unit charged but was not synching.  After unplugging the item and resetting it, I was able to get the unit to sync but the following message appears:

UPDATE PLAYER ACCOUNT INFO

The account info that the Zune Player (name of player) uses to connect to Zune Marketplace is no longer valid.  To update the account info for this Zune, click Sign In and then confirm your account info as (account name).

I signed in and the unit appears to sync at that point.  Once it completes synching, I unplugged it and attempted to play the Zune Pass content.  All of which will not play (with the same message that I need to sync in order to get it back).  When I attempt to re-sync, the unit sits there and I have to reset it again in order for it to again give me the message above.

If I don't attempt to play any content on the device, the unit will immediately show the message above every time I connect it to my computer.  My Zune Pass is in good standing and all of my Zune Pass content plays on my computer just fine.  I have not added any other devices recently nor do I exceed the number of devices allowed.  I did change computers about two months ago, but removed the old one and added the new with no issues (I have only two of three computers this account will allow).

i too share the same problem with my zune 120gb. All my zune pass music wont play on my zune and any new music wont sync, just as the software continues to ask me to update my account info. Microsoft really needs to address and fix this problem!

Very frustrated by this problem as well. I even hard reset my Zune and it stil happens each time I plug it in. Does anyone have a resolution???

I have been having this issue for a long time and it's driving me nuts! All of my music is updating to the Zune but it wont let me play anything saying that I need to sync my Zune for my Zune Pass information. I do this regularly and it says the sync went through perfectly but then I try to use my Zune and it gives me the same message. I am sick of paying for music that I can't listen to beyond my computer.

I am having the exact same problem that you all have listed here.  I am pulling out my hair trying to get to my music and the same thing happens everytime.  My account is and has been up to date, I'm using the same PC I always have, and my music is fine on my PC.  Then all of a sudden one day (right after I downloaded the updated Zune software onto my PC, this was a couple of months ago now), I go to use my Zune (same as always) and my Zune won't play, and the message comes up:  USAGE RIGHTS FOR THIS ITEM HAVE EXPIRED.  PLEASE SYNC WITH YOUR PC.  (or):  ITEM IS MISSING OR CAN'T BE PLAYED.  I have since synced my Zune, just like the message says, about 50 times without success, same message, no music.  I feel cheated.  What is the problem?

I'm having the same problem and it isn't fixing itself. Come on Microsoft, please help! I can't play nearly any of my music!
