Chinese/Japanese/Korean language support
Yes, zune HD has support for CJK languages, which clearly says that Microsoft can put the Language support in older zune, but choose not to.    It is really disgusting.   Are they forcing people to buy Zune HD?   I won't buy the HD version before my Zune 30 supports CJK.

Zune is not marketed outside of the US.  Correct?  If so, why waste space on the player with those languages?  The consumer Microsoft is marketing to, is in the US.  If you live in the states, it is expected that you speak, read and write the english language.  Don't junk up the player with unnecessary language files.

On the other hand, there are certainly English-speaking Americans who want to listen to Chinese/Japanese/Korean music and have the titles of those songs/albums/artists display properly. I totally agree that MS should have added this ability to the older Zunes, not just the Zune HD. However, that did not keep me from buying a Zune HD myself, as I don't listen to any music that uses those characters. Still though, I feel your pain.

re: Chinese/Japanese/Korean language support

I would urge you to call Zune support to express your frastrustion. The phone number is at the end of this message.

As for junk space on Zune, just add the option that let people choose whether they want to install the fonts.

IMHO, it's extremely near sighted for Microsoft to choose/force themselves out of a market segment.

People asked about CJK support from day one when Zune was just released, unfortunately they did not listen.   It is so stupid for microsoft to make such a bad decision.

Talking about space, the extra font may only cost you the space of one or two songs, but the inconvenience is huge to those with tons of C/J/K songs.   And it is definitely doable to make these language optional.

There are Unicode fonts, so I don't think it's that big of a deal.  For me, the keyboard is another issue.

BTW, this subforum is for the "Zune Software".  I think the better place is on the other subforum for the "device".

Anyway, here are other threads on the same subject.
