Questions about bronze/silver/top listener

Hi,

  • If I can be a "bronze" or "silver" listener then I assume I can be a "gold" listener. Except, I haven't seen anyone be named as a gold listener yet, is there such a thing?
  • Is "top listener" better or worse than "bronze/silver listener"?
  • How many plays do I need to clock up to be a bronze/silver/top listener of a particular artist/album?
  • It it possible to be a bronze/silver/top listener of just a song or is only artists/albums?

Thanks

Jamie

re: Questions about bronze/silver/top listener
1. The obvious answer would be yes and knowing the people behind all of this, I guess the gold status would be extremely out of reach for a good 80% of the people that actually use the Zune and are on the social.

2. Top listeners are shown when you go to an artists or albums page on the social. If you have people that go to your page a lot them they would know what you listen to the most and have credits for. If you don't, then you get your day or two of shine on artists or albums pages.

3. Bronze = 50, Silver = 200, Gold = ????? (Most likely 500 or something of that nature)

4. It's only artists and albums.

Thanks for all the answers above - all correct. Gold is actually 1,000 plays - and all I can say is, yes, people have earned gold badges. I haven't, though, and I listen to music probably 40-50 hours a week, I think - maybe more. I've got some silvers, but I haven't even come very close to a gold. You have to be pretty fixated on an artist to get there.

I once got Gold for listening to Cirque Du Soleil. That's right, Cirque Du Soleil :-)

What can I say? I studied music in college and because of it I can become easily fixated on soundtracks to events that resemble Ringling Bros on Steroids! (and minus the animals) :-)

So you do! Something is out of sync. Thanks for reporting it, though!

Did you have over 1000 at an earlier point in time? When the Listener Awards were introduced, I had Bronze Power Listener award for listening to Nobuo Uematsu songs, and I retained that award even after the play count dipped below 50 as old plays began to be subtracted from my artist play counts. I'm not sure if it would've continued to stay there or not since I continued listening to those songs until the play count above 50 again. (It's at 208 right now. Just for fun, I'm going to try to get it to 1000 so I can get a Gold Artist Power Listener award and a Gold Album Power Listener award.)

One other odd thing I noticed is that under "Recent Activity", I had the following notification:
SnowPhoenix9999 is now a Bronze Power Listener of Nobuo Uematsu 5/30/2008 5:00 PM
When I received this notification, I thought it was odd since it happened when my play count for that music was above 50 (and as stated before, I already had the award). Since I still had a Bronze Power Listener award even after the play count corresponding to it dipped below 50, this made me wonder if awards you no longer met the requirements for were purged at certain times rather than immediately after your artist/album play count dropped.

I would like to see the "Power Listeners awards" stay and not drop off. Like achievements in games on xbox live.

I second that notion...  would like to keep my achievements once I've received them... just because it took me longer than 28 days to get to that count, shouldn't mean that I don't get the achievement...  some of us have a life!!!!  ;)

Yeah, we have been getting the same feedback from a lot of users who want their badges to be permanent, and we totally get that. The idea behind the 28 days cycle was to keep a track of your current listening habits whcih might change over time reflected by your new badges.

But keeping the badges permanent is something we are thinking about as a team. Stay tuned...

I'm totally in tune with keeping the awards permanently, that would be awesome! (I've had Gold a couple of times and proud of it!)
