In car Zune install Pt2 & Review + Pics
Dear All,

Just letting you all know of my experiences, Like I said in a previous post & Video I had installed my Zune 120gb using the Soundgate package + Their Remote.

+ Maintains the volume setting
+ I like the way it displays the album art etc on the head unit

- The remote is kinda counter-intuitive (To be fair I am kinda getting used to it) but soundgate should really have separate Remotes for both Ipod & Zune ,...so having a universal remote for two items that work completely differently (button wise) seems wrong, It would be nice to just have a remote that mirrors the Device..........not quite, I looked at the  Zune car pack V2, but I wanted direct connection and not via a FM transmitter.
When you plug the device in you have to go to settings>display> tv out, Ok, but its a little annoying that it reverts back when the ignition is turned off, thus meaning you have to go through the whole settings>display> tv out.

Being the soundagte package connects via the bottom of the device ala "sync cable" I was hoping there was a work around....... I am now going to connect the Soundgate package DIRECTLY to the battery, thus solving this problem (maybe It shoulda been connected this way at the first go around? Embarrassed [:$]

Couple of notes:

a) I purchased a longer (better?) Zune A/V cable as there were complaints that the one that comes with the package was too short... cost $5
b) I placed the package under the centre console out of the way, it does not need to be visible
c) The remote, I placed near the head unit (see picture) I used double sided 3M "padded tape" , works very well i really didnt want to be screwing into the dash. The remote itself  has its own little holder so the tape IS NOT glued to the remote directly (you cannot see this from the picture) and its very strong
d) The Device itself is secured using a bracket I got off Amazon-- Arkon multi ratcheting cellular mount kit-- $10? its no longer available but I bought it on the strength of a reviewer and was not disappointed-it seems almost made for Zune.
again I didn't want to "drill" into the interior and the double sided tape with these Jamaican roads I had no faith in, solution:

There was/is a cup-holder in the centre console I do not use as it has two others, I got a carpenter to cut a hockey puck type shaped piece of wood about 3" thick and "press -fit" it, into the space, then used the screws provided to screw the kit into the wood for a tight solid fit.
