Can't really comment on Lil Wayne, because I have never heard any of his music; but I do have a general problem with some of the newer rock/alternative music that is being played on the radio, at least on 107.7 in Seattle. I know I am going to sound like an old man, complaining about how what the kids are listening today is garbage; but I really dislike popular music right now. In terms of popular rock stuff everything sounds so wussified, there is nothing that has any real edge to it. When I was a teenager popular radio rock was NIN, Marilyn Manson, Nirvana, Rage Against the Machine, and other similar bands. Now whenever I turn on the radio it is stuff like Kings of Leon, Paramore, and MGMT, which just feels so safe and generic. To me Paramore sounds like what a rock band would sound like if created by the Mickey Mouse Club.
Anyway, not meaning to insult anyone if they like this stuff, to each their own. It is likely more to do with the popular music being for a different generation than myself.
Amen brother. Paramore sucks mega ding-dong. Anyhow, the people that are bugging me most in the music industry today are tweeny-bopper type bands like the Jonas Brothers, or Hanna Montana/Miley Cyrus. They have absolutely
NO talent whatsoever. Also, rappers who talk about nothing but what are, in my mind, the fundamental elements of rap today. They are, Strippers, Money, and Drugs. That's about all that you'll find in most rap these days. I guess that they just don't make music with any thought in it anymore.
