Windows 7 DVR-MS and WTV
I am running Windows 7 Ultimate (RTM) x64 and have a Zune 30.  I haven't used it in a while and just decided it would be nice to sync some recorded shows with it.  From what I have read, this should be possible with 4.0 release that is installed.  I added the correct watch folder and nothing shows up in collection.  I try dragging and dropping and it says that it is not a compatible format.  It also does not show up as an option for file types to watch either.  What am I doing wrong?

re: Windows 7 DVR-MS and WTV
The Zune software purportedly supports wtv and dvr-ms files, both in SD and HD video formats. HOWEVER: the Zune software, in Microsoft's infinite wisdom, does not support decoding of the Dolby Digital audio format that ATSC TV uses. This is despite the fact that Windows 7 includes a Dolby Digital decoder for Media Center. Prior to Zune version 4.0, TV content would show up in the Zune software, and you could sync the video, but no audio would transfer. Supposedly, stereo HD or SD will show up and sync, but as there is almost none of that content available over ATSC or QAM it is of little use. So, theoretically, yes the Zune supports Recorded TV, realitstically, no.

Thanks for the reply.  I am aware of all that information.  The problem is, I can't get the shows to show up in the collection, nor manually add them.

re: Windows 7 DVR-MS and WTV

That's what I meant when I said Zune 4.0 won't display the shows if they have Dolby Digital audio. In order for the show to appear or be added to the collection, it must be a supported video AND audio format. If you converted the TV to .wmv, you'd be fine. But Recorded TV with Dolby Digital will not show up in the Zune software, even if you add the folder in settings or drag the file into the collection. Like I said, the files used to show up in version 3.1 of the Zune software, but no longer. This is true for all types of video, not just TV. You might, for example, have a thousand Divx files you'd like to sync with the Zune, and you'd logically think that the Zune software would be able to convert from .avi to .wmv, but no.
