re: Zune Hd does not show Artist Bio or Pictures

Hi there.  I recently had to reconfigure my zune because the internet was not working correctly.  It is fixed now and I synced all my music back onto the Zune HD but the artist bios and images do not appear on the Zune.  In my pin section I just get a black picture with the artist name.  I click on the artist and click on the name and I get a background pic but no bio, related artist, or pic that I used to get.  Also I dont have the option to look at the Artist's albums or songs that are in the marketplace when you are listening to the artist.  I will try and explain that better.  When you are viewing an artist in your collection you can click a button at the bottom of the Screen where the Zune will show you other available albums or songs, depending where you are...and then you can listen to them.  BUT, I cant do that anymore, the option does not even appear.  I dont know what is wrong with it but can someone please help because I really miss that feature and also being able to view something rather than just black rectangles in my pin area.

For the artist thing, it's like this. If you see 'sync complete' on your device, that means the media is there but it still hasn't finished caching the artist information. When you see 'done' that means that it has cached all that it needs to. If you still feel that there should be more and you're near a Wi-Fi hotspot, you can connect via Wi-Fi and the Zune HD will collect information from the Wi-Fi marketplace.

Did you remove it from the USB cable when it was on 'sync complete' or 'done'?

I let it stay for a couple hours plugged in and I still get nothing.  Even if I am not in a wi-fi spot I should still have a n option to see other albums or songs by the artist shouldn't I?  That option does not even appear.

True. Maybe if you reformatted the device and reinstalled the firmware -- I know that sounds extreme, but it's something I had to do in the early stages of having my Zune HD and I've had no issues since.

I agree.  I've reformatted and reinstalled the firmware everytime a new update came out.  This allowed me to use the device with barely any issues.

My HD didn't collect artist bios and pictures very quickly.  As far as I can tell, it does it when you are connected to the internet or Marketplace over Wifi.  Try messing around with the Marketplace or Internet for a while and see if any more data becomes available.  It took a month or so for all of mine to cache.

Thanks for all the replys!  I finally figured it out.  I did not have to reinstall the firmware but for some reason I had to delete all the music I had off my zune device and reinstall it.  From there I waited hours and now everthing is working fine again.  I dont know why it worked this time and not last time but....maybe it was a glitch?  Thanks everyone!

After I installed the 4.3 update using the region change I didn't get artist backgrounds and such.  After I completely wiped and reloaded my Zune it started working perfectly again.
