Ima have to disagree with Halo. I would hate playing a first person shooter on a touch screen. Anyways, it would either be really shitty and short, or take up like 6GB of space.

re: Most wanted Apps
I tallied up the app requests on this thread, and it seems like the most wanted apps are: e-mail, youtube, calendar, notes, IM (MSN/AIM/WinLive), facebook, Flash, Netflix, Maps, and a pdf/doc reader.

I would have to agree with calendar, notes, IM, facebook, twitter, flash (support, idk how it would be an app...haha), maps. Off of the list in this forum.

An Office suite and PDF/DOC reader would be the best for me. As fun as games can be, I could use something to review files while listening to music just as much, if not more. Tinker may be fun on the HD as well. I just hope games are not the main focus of the apps.

re: Most wanted Apps
I think people are misinterpreting what the ZuneHD's focus is - it is a PMP not a Smartphone/PDA.   The Ipod Touch is basically the Iphone with the phone portion taken out, which is why there are so many office apps, email, calendar, etc...  One of the major issues is that the ZuneHD doesn't have the same components as various Windows Mobile devices and Microsoft doesn't want to develop a separate app store/apps for all their various mobile devices.  So I don't ever see Microsoft focusing heavily on the app side for the ZuneHD unless they decide to make a Zune cell phone ;p.

With more realistic expectations, I hope Microsoft focuses on what makes the ZuneHD great and why people bought the device - to play back media (sound quality is far superior to Ipod Touch).   Therefore, we do need a number of new apps ASAP such as Youtube player, internet radio/shoutcast/lastfm, Sirius XM, Pandora, Hulu, Netflix, Orb, Slingbox, etc.   However, with Zunepass and selling their own movies/tv shows in the Zunestore, I wouldn't be surprised if we never get Pandora, movie/tv streaming apps.   It would be inexcusable, though, if we never get any internet radio ;p.   We already will be getting Twitter and Facebook, and it would make sense to also give us MSN Messenger/zune messenger.   But I don't see email, office suite, pdf reader, calendar with appointments/tasks ever really happening, as Microsoft wants you to purchase a Windows Mobile 6.5 phone.

Overall, Microsoft needs to get off their lazy buts and release internet radio and youtube playback ASAP.   It is crazy that a multimedia device with Wi-fi lacks these features nowdays, even the Sony OLED mp3 player does both.   I am hoping for more advanced apps but I am not really expecting them other than 3d games.   Also, if Microsoft wants to get an edge over Apple and RIM, snap up Netflix streaming exclusivity for ZuneHD and Windows Mobile 6.5 phones, they already got it for the 360.

Unfortunately, people want options.  Yes, the device is a PMP first, and it should be.  But when you have a PMP with a few apps compared to another device that plays media with 75,000 apps, which includes office, email, calendar, etc...people are going to take notice.

I'm hopeful that we'll see additional apps such as these or others by December, but if we don't, I may reconsider what my purchase will be this year.  I don't have a cell phone (crazy, I know) and I don't want one.  What I need is a device to play my media, keep my contacts, calendar, etc.  The Zune HD looks amazing, and right now it's still at the top of my list.  But with no official word on adding email/calendar/youtube apps, no word on online radio apps...etc., I may give more time to reading about the newest touch device.  I can't believe I'm saying that, as I've been an avid Zune user and follower since the 30 came out...but MS seems to be ahead in the hardware game, and behind in the software...the likes of which I never thought I'd see.

I've been saying this since the concept of Zune HD. Throw that into the market place.

Also, Mircosoft really needs to get some Flash support. Mobile internet blows.

I would be able to comment on the mobile internet if it worked... Zune is incompatible with many university networks (mine included)

Defintetly Netflix - they've got it on the 360...nevermind the Zune market place coming soon to the 360, it woulld give them a cohesive(unified) look/feel for their products...start watching something on you pc @ work, head to a friends and introduce them to the same movie on the 360.,.. and later on you commute home or working out at the gym, either re watching it or checking something else out from the same director or actor

Magic the gathering : Duel of the plainswalker would be nice (With cross play for 360 owners)

Oh and that little thing called Live anywhere?(http://www.engadget.com/2006/05/10/microsoft-blends-platform-lines-with-live-anywhere/)... it's funny how I have an app for that on my iphone.. nothing for windows mobile phones(i believe) - they talked about it with the first Zune (http://www.engadget.com/2006/07/17/but-wait-theres-more-zune-deets/)

Come on MS and Zune team!!

I can never get internet in the Airport or a lot of cafe wi-fi systems. But anyways... It works great with my timemachine/wireless internet. Ironic that it would work perfect with a Mac product. =P

Other than some of the cool features that come with it's browser, it's not better than the horrible internet you get on a cell phone. No videos, obviously, and pages load in mobile form. It's like using a very watered down version of Bing.
