Hmm, hadn't thought of that. So what you're saying is you'd use your own profile page as a place to aggregate music blog information you want to read - and potentially share with your friends - and not necessarily be writing your own blog?
I think both things sound interesting...and to you, Jamie, I agree: I don't want to rebuild a platform Microsoft already has, if it's to serve the same purpose.
Exactly. Mainly, it's for your friends. That way, they can use your page as a convenient aggregator for your blog content. I do think you should be able to submit basic things to your blog, which is then in turn reflected on the aggregator on your account. It's just, that there's no purpose in added a stand alone blog service when Microsoft already has one. Just added to ability to aggregate the Microsoft Blog, Google Blog, and other blogs to the Zune social page of a user, where it can then be viewed by their friends/whomever, would be a great feature. It really customizes the page.
Also. If you added the posting of YouTube videos, MetaCafe videos, and links to the users social networking sites/ other sites, all from the Zune page, then that just adds to the customization of the page.
Digg.com is a really good example of blog integration, and minimal profile customizing on the Web 2.0 platform. They let users add all the basic data, including blog integration, and custom links. The rest of the profile is made out of content the user submitts, which is in this case the song listing, and other data the Zune team is looking into integrating in the future.
I'm just saying that people who actively use the Zune site are also heavy blog users/blog readers. To have an aggregator for select blogging services, with maybe even more integration with Microsoft's, would really be a feature that would allow users to customize their profiles, without letting it get out of hand, like on MySpace.
The Zune dev team should really be warry to avoid a move like only integrating Microsoft's blogging service. A general aggegator with enhanced features for the Live blogging service would be a perfectly unbiased and practical solution.
