I have a Zune. You have a Zune. Why did you get one instead of the available alternatives on the market?

My first MP3 was a 8GB Zune. When I was in high school, I noticed that all the earbuds attached to students' heads were white and connected to iPods. Truth be told, I got a Zune SOLELY because I didn't want an iPod, even though my bro had a Nano and encouraged me to join the club. That said, my dad had long developed into a Microsoft/PC fanboy due to his 20+ years selling and fixing computers, so that might've also played a role.

Suffice it to say, I only saw two other people at school with Zunes after buying it.

Oh yeah. My brother broke his Nano and got a 120 GB Zune. He stepped on that one and now has the 8GB I sold him.

I've had my problems with it, but I don't regret the purchase at all. So, why did you get a Zune?

re: I have a Zune. You have a Zune. Why did you get one instead of the available alternatives on the market?
I basically got it because I've trusted MS since the 2001 Xbox. I got the 360 in Jan. 2006, and I've been with Xbox LIVE for 6 years, and have enjoyed it as well. Microsoft's products have never failed me (minus the 360, but I got that fixed for free). I knew of people having ipods, and most, if not all of them said theirs broke. I got my Zune based on prior interaction with Microsoft's hardware.

I also convinced  2 cousins, 2 friends, my sister, and her friend to get Zunes. 1 cousin and the friends just from seeing my Zune (though 1 friend went to the Apple crap because he got a free touch) got them as well. That cousin's sister was going to get a nano 8 GB ipod because her friends had them (that was her reasoning when I asked why she wanted it over a Zune). I showed her that a 30 GB Zune was the same price as the nano, and the screen was prolly 5 or 6 times larger as well.

My sister's just got common sense. She won a free nano 8 GB ipod at school last December. She sold it this summer and got a 16 GB Zune HD (I convinced her to get that over a regular Zune). Her friend ordered a Zune HD shortly after as well.

I've also talked, oh, 6 or 7 people into Xbox 360s, either directly or indirectly (my friends telling their friends). MS should be paying me commission.

I've a long time Xbox user and I love my Xbox 360. My friend had a Zune and it seemed more compatible with the Xbox 360. So, I decided to sell my 30gb iPod and purchase a 30gb Zune. No regrets. As soon as I join the work force again I will be getting a Zune HD.

Hey there...

I was looking at a Toshiba Gigabeat and found out they were manufacturing the original Zune 30s, so I gave Microsoft a chance.  I'm an xbox user, have had iTunes/iPod briefly, but decided that the Zune ecosystem is ideal for my needs.  I love the prospects of Xbox, Windows Mobile and Zune converging.

Oh and ZunePass + Smart DJ is just brilliant.  :0)

Cheers.

I was looking to get a digital media player and I had already decided it was not going to be anything related to Apple.  I read MS was developing the Zune and with little knowledge of what was actually to come I had decided I was going with the Zune.  Three years a Zune 30, Zune 4, and finally an upgrade to the Zune 120 I'm still happy with the product.  Doesn't matter to me what people say about Zune 1.0 what we have now is leaps and bounds better.

My daughter was wanting an MP3 player for Christmas a couple years ago, she was wanting an iPod, but they didn't have anything like the Zune Pass, so I talked her into letting me get her an 80gb Zune instead, since then I've bought her younger sister an 8gb, and an 80gb for myself.  The oldest one kept complaining that her's wouldn't work, so I bought her a new 120gb Zune and took the old one and reformated it and haven't had any problems with it.  The only problem is I'm only allowed 3 devices on our Zune Pass, so it doesn't get much use now.

You could try selling the spare 80GB on eBay. They used to fetch between $100 and $150 for the used ones, but I'm pretty sure the getting price has gone down with the release of the Zune HD.

I like microsoft products. I did own a Ipod and just didn't like them. I think the Zune brand is really reliable and i love the social. I also think zunes have superior audio quality then Ipods. Its a better devise and the zune pass is the greatest deal is the history of music.

I spent about 2 month researching Zune and iPOD - the quality of the music on the Zune was just better - it is ALL about the music!

fell in love with the original brown 30g.....based on size and looks alone.
zune marketplace is fun to navigate through and the 'related' and 'influenced by' tabs keep me locked in for hours sometimes
