read error
okay so i have just battled my way through a slew of errors. c00d1249. c00d124d. and now i have this:

Read Error

the zune software cannot access important data from your zune. try disconnecting and reconnecting it. if the problem persists, contact customer support.

before i get ahold of customer support, i was wondering if there was anything at all i can do?

I've been having the same problem since my zune software updated itself yesterday on my laptop. I uninstalled and reinstalled to no avail. If you get an answer please let me know. I'm limping by on my desktop as a guest. When asked on my desktop if I wanted to install the new update I said NONONO. I also tried resetting my zune by holding down the back and pause buttons at the same time. Still nothing.

i called up tech support

apprently this is the first error of its kind they didnt have a clue what it was XD

I am having the same problem.  If you get any answers I would appreciate the Help.  I also tried customer support and stumped them with it so if they ever answer you I would love to hear the answer.

so there not a way to fix it. I have called the zune support a couple times and they have no idea what i am talking about.

So are they saying that we need to send the Zune back in so it can be repaired, or are they going to try to come up with a software fix.

I'm sorry but the reset command for zune is holding down the back button and the up button of the directional pad.

I have reset my Zune. I have reinstalled the Software, the drivers, changed cords. My son has the exact same make and model of Zune and his works just fine but mine gives the same message: READ ERROR: Errorthe zune software cannot access important data from your zune. try disconnecting and reconnecting it.  I am running windows xp I have a 30 GIG Zune.  I purchased it on Black friday so it is only 3 months old.  I have version 2.3 ( 1145)  boot loader 435.  I am at a loss as to what to do.  Any help here would be appreciated.

BTW, have you tried restoring the device? Or have you tried using a different computer?

getting the same message. even stopped and started the relevant services.

However, it will sync wirelessly...go figure

All it takes is a restart of your Zune device. I had the problem and that cleared it up for me.

use a different sync cable/computer and it should work...
