Whats Good With All The Comparisons In Hip-Hop?

I notice in music, but A LOT, in hip-hop that there are always these comparisons between two artists.Always "Whose better? [insert Rapper A's name] vs. [Insert Rapper B's name]" I don't know, maybe its just me, but I think its pretty useless/pointless/stupid in my opinion. Good music is good music, whats up with the comparisons? Just leave iit be. For every artist there is a dedicated fan who enjoys their music, get what I'm saying? Comparing takes away from the personal experience of enjoying music in my opinion. Just my thoughts. What do you think?

I know what you mean and I agree. It is pointless, but comparing two artists doesn't really take anything away from them to me. In high school my friends and I would discuss who we thought was better but it was more relevant then most topics on the internet. Like who we thought had a better verse on a song, who would win in a battle, or comparing members of groups. I guess it was/is just something to talk about but I think it is irrelevant. I prefer to stick to topics regarding good music and artists work.
