Will Zune HD be as faulty as the others?

I bought an 80 gb Zune at launch and so far have RMA'ed it 3 times, once for a broken lock switch and the other 2 times for a 'faulty hard drive'. Since my last RMA came in I have not gone a month without getting the error that my 'Zune has stopped responding' when I sync it and of course that means nothing short of deleting everything off of it and re-syncing it, only for it to happen again in another week or two... (thats all support tells me I can do... have fun syncing 80gb's again, sucker!) I've re installed the Zune software 3 times now, as well as tried it on my laptop instead of desktop to ferret out any possible computer issues.... no luck. My sister in law has had to RMA her 16gb Zune twice since this last Christmas... So I guess my question is did Microsoft actually put time in development and TESTING on the Zune HD? Or will it be a terd as well? They had to have spent their time on something since no problems with the Zune software or hardware have been addressed... The last software update was a joke, but at least I can play Hexic now when all of my podcasts and music is "missing or cannot be played".

I just bought my first Zune and the lock looks like it's going to break at any moment.  First thing I noticed was how loose it was compared to the ipod.

Have had zero problems with mine so far.  I find it amusing that you believe your one Zune is a good indicator of every Zune that is produced

re: Will Zune HD be as faulty as the others?

But I can only base my experience off of MY Zune, not others... If I buy something that for its entire life has been faulty I'm not going to think highly of it because someone elses works.... Like I said, I've had 3 RMA's, which means 3 different Zunes.

Besides with 5000 plays it doesnt seem like you've owned yours nearly as long as I have.... My friend bought the 30gb at launch and didn't have a single problem. Of course he lost it for about 8 months and rarely uses it as it is...

re: Will Zune HD be as faulty as the others?
I watch videos on mine more than music...about 45 gigs worth

sorry about the earlier comment...got kinda mad
but in any case, even multiple instances of failure really aren't an indication of the entire brand.
I met some guy who's gone through five HP defective computers, but I've met tons of other people who have had no problem with theirs

So, in response to what you originally asked, I would say yes, because the other Zunes aren't very faulty to begin with

I have more plays than you and rarely have complaints about my zune. Sure, the lock is loose and probably will break one day, or pressing the down button only works half the time, but overall it's been a reliable music piece for me.

The hardware is the best part, the software is where I am upset. Zune is slow, cumbersome, difficult to use compared to the very speedy and reliable Itunes I once upon a time used. Switching was nice, because I like hardware over software, but I do have to update every 30 days for DRM announces and then to get more music.

I've had to hard reboot 3 times in my lifespan of the zune, 80gb for the record. One recently with the update because I transfered zune's main music file to a portable drive, and the other two due to other issues. But overall, it's awesome.

Zune HD will be even better I hope, but I'd much rather see them work on the Software and just put a built in alarm clock into the Zune for those of us with a dock and speakers already.

I have had 3 Zunes, 2 30 GB's and 1 80 GB. They are all still running strong from day 1, not one problem at all. You are just getting unlucky.

You know I've had an 80gb since they came out - never had a problem - I'd guess that this may problems has more to do with the opperator then the unit itself.

re: Will Zune HD be as faulty as the others?

Your posts show a LOT of people using your PC - swaping files with iPODs  and people using your PC and taking on and off music - While the systems are robust they do not seem to play well together -

Good job, you've amended your opinion to exclude your idea that the Zunes are faulty, still manage to ignore what I've said (about making assumptions), and then attempt to make a sad retort by talking about how I've had my Zune for a shorter amount of time.

re: Will Zune HD be as faulty as the others?

i bought my zune 80 when it first came out. i orded it from bestbuy and had to wait till they had one in stock. i only have about 11 gigs free on it.

i had a zune pass for awile, and played a bit of music on it back then. now i mainly use it for podcasts. both audio and video. i have over 40 gigs

of podcasts on it. so for that reason i cant see realy buying a new hd. if all my podcasts would not fit on it why would i want it. and as for all

the trouble you have had. well i have basicly had none. i think they have had problems with the software and the hard ware. only reason i can

see for not having a 80  or 120 gig is they dont want to use hard drives any more only flash memory.

re: Will Zune HD be as faulty as the others?

Operator error?

I plug it in, drag music to it, and that doesn't work. Its not like the Zune is some open-ended hardware that you can do anything with... Kinda ignorant comment bud.
