ok so my wife told me her zune stopped working (mainly the center pad) so after looking for many answers I found none. I did however manage to fix it and here's how
(the play and back buttons were working, but the center pad was not at all)
I plugged in the zune and it came up on the software
I went to the device section of the software
went to settings
went to player update where it said the latest version was on there
clicked the part where it says to add games to the device and let it run through the update
it restarted automatically once the update was installed and the center pad works fine now.
