Duplicate Songs

It would be good if the Zune software recognizes duplicated songs when you buy complication albums & the same song is on more than 1 of these albums & it only saves 1 copy of the song. Then on your Zune there would be that 1 song linked to multiple albums.

My Zune has many duplicated songs on & it is wasting space.

re: Duplicate Songs
It would be good...but that is a very, very difficult problem.  I don't think MS (or Apple, or any media player company) can solve that without some other, standardized change to the way songs are tagged.  With now only an artist and song title to go by, how could you know that two songs of the same title by the same artist are exactly the same or are two different versions?  It could be a studio version on one, live on the other and so on...

Well, there are such things like MusicBrainz that differentiate one song from another.

I have also thought that this would be a good idea to implement in the marketplace, since I like to download a lot of albums, but don't like all the wasted space taken up by duplicates.

MusicBrainz works essentially the same way...it's just that the database is community maintained.  If there's not enough data already there, it won't be able to tell either.
