Social playcounts are forever.  But if you are talking about your PC software, there is no supported method.  However... see my post here.

Yeah, I wish there was a way you could at least manually go in and change them, but I suppose that could have weird effects on your social account. I'd like to import all my plays from last.fm, I had somewhere around 14,000 plays on there through iTunes before I got my Zune. I've basically given up on using playcounts for playlists on the Zune software; half the time my playcounts don't update from the device, or if I have to reinstall the OS, it's almost impossible to make it keep playcounts between installs, especially if you change drives. I wish we could get a "Backup to Disc" option, like iTunes has, it's the one thing I did love about iTunes.

I notice that my Player doesn't always update the Social account when I sync my player to the PC or some songs update and others don't.  What I've been doing lately is going online or visiting the Marketplace through the Player and it auto Syncs to the Social Account which updates my play counts quicker and more accurately. 

Another thing too... I was transfering songs to my brother's Player (which hadn't been sync'd in quite sometime) and when I checked my Social Profile I noticed it had transferred all his plays to my Social Account (I felt like a cheater).
