4th Wave?!

I'm surprised no one has said anything about it so I guess I will.

The fourth wave of ska! Let us discuss!

Is it going to come?

What will it sound like?

Here's something interesting that I've heard a lot. That the 4th wave of ska is gonna be...get this...emo-ska... I'm not sure how that works...but sadly I wouldn't doubt it... Hmm maybe that's why the 4th wave isn't coming...

Emo-ska? God, I hope not. It'll be a rap/ska hybrid, or a latino/ska hybrid. Hopefully it'll be more roots driven...we'll see...

re: 4th Wave?!

I would kill myself if 4th wave is emo-ska (which is an oxymoron i think) rap-ska or latino-ska.

Cant we say there already is latino-ska? Unless you mean something different tthhen all those latino ska bands. Which I dont like anyways.

In regard to emo-ska, a lot of Streetlight Manifestos lyrics are kinda sad and dpressing and talking about dying. But at the same time some arent. \

The band Monty Are I calls themselves 4th wave ska but they only use a trumpet in some songs and their lyrics are really emo I think. Nothing ska about them except the rarely used trumpet. Guitar and bass parts are nowhere near ska like.

Must there be a 4th wave? the first 3 were all so good lets not ruin it

I know right....

I've heard a lot of Ska/Hardcore bands like A Billion Ernies and The Flaming Tsunamis...I'm wondering if this is what it's gonna be like.

One thing is for sure in my heart though, Ska will never die.

I think 4th wave ska would be grindcore or hardcore ska and maybe electro ska.

Folk-Ska!!!!!!

Im trying to start a folk/ska band. We got bass, guitar, banjo, drums.
So it will have ska guitar, ska bass, ska-flok mix drums, and then the banjo playing kinda for the horns.

I need to start playing in a Ska band again, I play Trombone.

Electro Ska sounds like a terrible idea, dunno.

I miss listening to Goldfinger

You guys should start making a large playlist on Imeem of all the Ska you love and post it on here. I'm a bit out of touch with my Ska

re: 4th Wave?!
Yeah I think the fourth wave will be Ska mixed with whatever is popular now-adays. And I don't mean mainstream *** Tokio Hotel popular. I'm talking Indie. I dunno, that's just a wild guess. I've been wanting to start a New Wave Ska band. But I haven't got the sound figured out yet. I've had the idea of the whole neon blue rude boy suits and *** like that. Yeah...I've been listening to the Aquabats' new stuff a little too much lol.

EDIT: Sorry about the year old bump by the way. I found this thread through Google and didn't realize the last post date till after I posted =/

re: 4th Wave?!

It seems to me like most ska is so far from what it was originally that it dosen't even seem like ska anymore. A lot of it has a rock beat, it's like punk with horns. So I'll keep listening to reggae because that's where the emotion is at IMO. Of course if some new ska comes along that sounds good I'll listen to it, but I don't know.

Also speaking of Streetlight I've got tickets for tomorrow night. Big Smile [:D]

New Amon Amarth song available, check out their myspace!
