This is getting ridiculous
So it's been what, a week since the 4.0 update? My total plays has changed exactly ZERO. No matter how many songs I listen to, my social never changes and when I restart my Zune software, right back to the same play count. Obviously nothing I play is counting so I ask, what is the point? Dare I mention the new Paramore album isn't even available to tag correctly.

Are you sure your zune is correctly linked (software, settings) and also that you are logged on?  It's working fine for me, on both my 80GB and my new HD... and I suspect it's working for most folks, or the forums would be on fire from this.

I have the exact same problem here.

And yes, my Zune is linked correctly.

well... try the old 'tried and true' approach then...  unlink your zune, and log out of your zune account.  restart the software and log in, then link again...  who knows?  maybe that will clear a sticky bit...

Well I've tried the link/unlink approach twice with no luck. To make matters worse, I played about 60 songs directly through my Zune software. Yet the next time I ran the software, it was back to the original 12,310 plays. Like the last 60 never happened. This is getting really frustrating. I can't even blame my actual Zune because it appears to be in the software somewhere...

Alright I found a possible solution. My Zune software is maintaing it's play count, but I've yet to see my social update. Anyway, I did not have the Windows updates on automatic. Install all the proper windows updates. When I tried to Update Software in the Zune settings it was giving me a strange error code. The updates cleared that up and seems to have fixed the play count issue. I'm hoping the servers are just behind, to explain the social still not updated. anyway good luck

Disregard that all. Didn't work. Back to original play count. Just wasting my time now

Per my post here: http://forums.zune.net/531325/ShowPost.aspx we would need the Fiddler trace from your computer to attempt to troubleshoot, as we don't have any systemic problems with playcounts updating from the software.
