buggy 3.2 firmware
I saw a bunch of people are having trouble with firmware 3.2 on here.  I have a 80G and I just wanted to share my plight.  Prior to 3.2 my Zune ran perfectly.  Since, it's been buggy as hell.  It will hang between tracks, I have to manually advance from song to song when listening to an album, this happens randomly.  It also doesn't display track times properly.  Sometimes it will switch to the next track but won't show it in the display.  Other times it will crash when I'm trying to switch tracks.  Pretty much a bunch of bugs involving track switching.  Pretty major bugs though.

Has anyone tried reformatting the zune?  That's the only thing I have left to try.  Otherwise I'm gonna be on a hunt for the 3.1 firmware.

re: buggy 3.2 firmware

I have done it all of it. The best bet is to drain the battery very low low.  Then let it seat and then charge.

But if you format it try get the battery low so when it get a cleaner shut down. Plus turn off the all auto download. You let it sync it self then add some song and play them. I think by doing this it will help the hard drive get setup for the rest of them.  Yes, I have still problem but right now it is download right and playing right.

re: buggy 3.2 firmware
so it was fine w/ the 3.1 update? bc mine is doing that same thing too but i upgraded from 2.5? to 3.2 and its doing that whole 0:00 time thing when it goes to the next song. its really annoying. i noticed however it only seems to happen on the new songs i added after the update? like my old songs seem to be working fine? or maybe i just haven't listened to my old songs enough to experience it.

I'm in the same boat as you are.

My Zune is a 30 GB, and for some reason I can only put 14.5 GBs of music and podcasts on it.  Sucks.

Same problems here with both my 80GB and 16GB. Both were perfect before the 3.2 update. I did reformat the 80 thinking at first I had some corrupted files from the update, but even after putting everything back on it's still not changing info to the next track some times. If you wait too long and let it keep playing it will freeze completely.

I hope this is fixed soon. Doing a manual firmware reset back to 3.1 is a real hassle. Not as simple as a regular update. Very involved.

re: buggy 3.2 firmware
I have 3 Zune 30GB running within my house. None of them having issues that you guys have been stating. I was actually expecting them to have the issues that you guys are listing because they are v1 Zunes.

The firmware issue does indeed seem to be some sort of firmware error. It's entirely possible that it could be from the update. That's the ONLY time those files are modified. I know this may sound like a curse, but call Zune Support. They may be able to give you a better explanation. Also, make a note of any sounds that may be emitting from the unit itself. If there are any audible clicking sounds, then the unit might need to be sent in.

As for the poster about the size limit, you will probably have to reformat your Zune. Changing PCs often to sync your Zune can affect the meter on the Zune software. Im not entirely sure if this would also affect the unit itself, but I have a feeling that a simple reformat might fix the issue.

re: buggy 3.2 firmware

Mine doesn't switch tracks properly on all tracks regardless of age.  It's not everytime though I'd say about 40% of track switches have some sort of problem.  I know it's proly not gonna fix anything but I think I'm gonna reformat it.  I think we're falling victim to Microsoft's habit of testing software on live users.  I like the Zune too much to switch but please no one tell my Ipod owning friends about this.  :)

I was just about to update, thinking there'd be new features like an EQ or something.  Thanks for saving me the hassle, OP.

I really hope this issue gets sorted, my 120GB is unusable at the moment - if you play too many tracks with realizing the bug has occurred, the unit becomes completely unresponsive.

re: buggy 3.2 firmware
I formatted and resunc it last night, made no difference.  All the bugs are still present.  I think the only thing that's gonna fix this is a new firmware from Microsoft.
