Need some new music...

Recommend me some good metal.

No screamcore. God I hate that stuff. Its ruining music almost as bad as rap is.

No melodic metal. It just doesn't do it for me.

Stuff I like? Look at my Zune profile. Thrash metal... you know Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, The Sword, Overkill, Testament, Savatage, Pantera, HellYeah, Tree, etc. all those bands are good, and the music just works...

So now I need more of the same...

Suggestions?

re: Need some new music...

For starters:

I'm not sure if you've heard of any, but Skeletonwitch and Warbringer are pretty good newer thrash bands, and if you like them then you might like Toxic Holocaust. If you like Metallica then you've proboably heard of Flotsam & Jetsam. Also they're kind of cheesey but Omen is good.

New Amon Amarth song available, check out their myspace!

Calvalera Conspiracy is a good band to listen to, if you like Sepultura then you will probably like them two because it has the same singer and drummer. Also I don't know if you have listened to Machine Head but they are a really good thrash band that put out an amazing album two years ago.

I make this suggestion with some trepidation, but are you familiar with Apocalyptica?

A relatively new thrash band that has greatly impressed me is Revocation; i'm not sure either of their albums are available on the marketplace, but they keep thrash fresh and groovey, not just recirculating old, chug riffs everyone has heard before. Fast paced and brutaligrooviness. http://www.myspace.com/revocation

Along the lines of Prog/Metal.....try a listen to Mind Key from Italy. The first album Journey of a Rough Diamond is very good. The new album Pulse for a Graveheart, has a new singer who sounds like Disturbed. I personally prefer the first singer, the new album is not bad though. Good prog/metal stuff. Similar to Dream Theater but harder and faster.

Zune is AWESOME!!...since Nov 2006 Black30GB and Pink30GB (my wifes'!!!)

However I see you like thrash metal, I have a very unknown band in the thrash realm that's kick ass.  It's this band from Greece - Turbulencehttp://www.myspace.com/turbulence2008

Another great thrash band that I'm not sure if you've heard of is Rammer from Canada.  http://www.myspace.com/rammermain

While not new, a few good Bay Area bands to look up would be Forbidden, Vio-Lence, Death Angel, Dragon Lord and Exodus.  Other oldies but goodies are Nuclear Assault, Sacred Reich and Suicidal Tendencies.  Check out bands like Demon Hunter and Kreator, you may dig them.  You also need to check out Lazarus A.D., they get played a lot on Sirius Liquid Metal and saw them live in San Francisco when they opened for Testament, they kicked ass.

A 3 Zune Household: Gears Of War 120GB, 30GB Wife, and my old Halo 30GB (now my Son's).
