re: "This Item is Missing or Cannot Be Played" Appears for All Music

Okay so I purchased a Brown Zune 30 this past Friday. Over the course of the weekend i've got about 15gigs worth of Music, Video and Pictures synced to it. All went fine when I took it to school with me yesterday for some casual listening/watching between classes.

It all went to hell today when I turned my Zune on about mid- day, (Not the first time today) and i hit Shuffle All under the songs tab, and was greeted with the message "This Item is Missing or Cannot Be Played' This message pertains to every single Song that is on my Zune. However Videos and Pictures still functioned.

I figured oh well ill resync it later. I come home, rip everything off, and copy a playlist to it. I disconnect and find my freshly synced Playlist still out of order, as well as any other music synced to the device. However video still functions fine.

Any suggestions?

ya i believe your libray got curoppted reformatting is really the only way to go

how do I reformat my Zune?

no no no try something slightly simple first......

delete zunestore.sdf and currentdatabase_365 (they are hidden files you'll need to do a search for hidden files).  Delete those and then restart the software the library will rebuild and should clear up DRM issues and it will also fix them on your zune.  I wouldn't plug in yoru zune till after this is done.

that did Nothing.

My Zune still pops up with the "This Item Is Missing or Cannot Be Played" message every time i try to play a file.

How do I reformat my Zune?

there's an "erase all content" option in the software for the zune when you click on settings.  Try that and resync the zune.  If you have a zune 30 back and left to reset then after it resets hold back, right, confirm to "reformat" though it really doesn't but does erase all content on the zune itself.

I have the same problem...PLEASE HELP!

I had this problem today as well. I last sync'd a few days ago, today in the middle of the day all the music on my zune just disappeared. So far restarting has worked and hooking it up to Sync again didn't do anything either. Looks like I'll have to delete everything and resync

OK, thank God it (resyncing) worked ... until "Bring Her Down" by Rob Zombie came on (followed by "You Are the Sunshine of my Life" ... wonder if anyone else can say that about their collection) I had no idea if it would or not.  ALSO, thank God I have my entire library permanently on my PC (I tended to clear off a lot of stuff when I had my Zen Sleek).

I had to delete everything from the Zune and then sync. So far it looks alright, I'll find out more today when I head off with the Zune

::shakes fist::  I just ran into this issue yesterday.

 

Thanks for the fix.  Looks good so far, will get some heavy testing in today to make sure all is well.  I saw the "delete all content" link last night and wasn't positive what it was and wasn't deleting so I held off.
