just got the new robin guthrie "carousel" and liked it a lot on the first listen. definitely different from stuff like M83 and the orb though as far as a suggestion... for fans of cocteau and guthrie though i suggest sophie barker's album "earthbound" .. i love her voice, have been since i got the first zero 7 album when my brother got me into them and sia.
tim hecker i gave a try from seeing it come up as a recommendation in amazon. really like radio amor a lot.. only have that one and "haunt me... haunt me do it again" which i haven't listened to enough to have an opinion of. i've been meaning to check out his other albums but have been trying to cut down on my CD buying this year.
easiest to see what i listen to by checking out my followed artists list.. i tried to get as much as i could in there. there's very little i don't like from stuff some people might classify as new age like steve roach, vidna obmana, robert rich etc. to the originals like brian eno, harold budd, jon hassell to the "golden age" artists like the orb, orbital, future sound of london and aphex twin... as a child of the 80s i grew up loving the synthesizer, so there's very little electronic music i don't like, though i tend towards quieter stuff most of the time vs. hi-nrg stuff, trance, etc.
