Has the Zune finally gotten support for albums with more than one disk?
I've been wondering because I remember someone saying it was coming and now that firmware 3.2 came out I'm not sure. Do we now have multiple disk support without having to retitle albums as {Album Name}Disk #

It is supported since 2.0 in both software and device firmware, if you are using ID3v2.3 tags for your MP3 files or the WMA format and have the disc number field (that's 'TPOS' for ID3v2.3 and 'WM/PartOfSet' for Windows Media tags) correctly tagged. If you don't have the disc number field tagged for your files, there's no way the sofware knows which file is for which disc. The software doesn't use folder hierarchies to detect that, and the device doesn't either.

That isn't true, the device has had issues with this, it would number sequentially (i.e. 1,1,2,2,3,3...) instead of in the actual order of the album (1-12, 1-12.)

It is true. You need to tag your files or it won't work. You can use software like MP3tag for that: http://www.mp3tag.de/en/

All my files were tagged by the Zune software.  If I need to use a 3rd party software to correct the disk numbers it's an error on the Zune software's part.

*Edit*
I apologize if I come off as angry, I just found it rather annoying that I had meticulously organized over 20,000 songs only to find that any of them that happened to be multi-disk ended up ruined on the sync to the device.

Nothings perfect. Try using zune to search for album info and select it that way. I think I did that for my radio head disk to make it recognize the disk properly. If you have to , remove the files (delete if having disk) and then add one check that its disk 1 or so and do as above then add the other and do the same if not getting the right album info.

re: Has the Zune finally gotten support for albums with more than one disk?
I've been looking for a solution to this for a long time. This seems to be fixed in the Zune PC software, but not on the device firmware itself. I've found nothing to suggest a solution to this, mostly just a bunch of people putting their fingers in their ears and saying its fixed.

I am using Tag&Rename to set the disk number for the tracks and have verified that they show up correctly in the Zune software with the correct disk number in the properties page. When I go to put these tracks on the device they are not listed by disk number, but rather by track number, which ends up being 1,1,2,2,3,3,etc,etc. This is really pretty useless. Does anyone know what REALLY needs to be done to make them show up correctly on the device?

helmespc, since is the Zune HD specific forum... the HD does pay attention to the disc # tag, unlike the previous devices.  I still recommend just re-numbering the tracks like a single sequential album, though, so you get universal compatibility.  (Even Windows Media Player does NOT support disc # sort behavior.)

I think the best thing that could happen would be if Microsoft updated WMP, Explorer, Zune and all their products to support ID3v2.4, it'd make things so much better for everyone.

...which would create even more incompatibilities and confusion... and will not fix the 'problem' mentioned in this thread for non HD devices.  ID3v2.4 is not the de facto compatible standard for ID3 tagging.  Avoid.
