Violence outside a Town Hall Meeting.
Very Sad  When I read this it really just made me feel sad. The debate over health care coming down to violent acts and racial epithets. I mean if you are an American how can this not feel like our country just took 3 steps backwards. I hope those people are prosecuted to the utmost limits of the law.

Well if there is nothing done for that specific reason then I definitely would find that to be an awful end to an awful event. Don't hold it against me if I wait to see what happens before I agree with terms like fascism.

That's a very strong word, it has been used to describe the Nazis. Whom committed atrocities so dark and cruel the entire world went to war. I really have to back away from any statements that call America fascist over isolated incidents, especially when the reason(s) for calling America fascist haven't even occurred yet.

Edit: I had to edit the word Nazis, is microsoft offended by history? It was censored, I am disturbed by that.

Durring the election in Phili the "New Black Panthers: showed up outside voting areas with night stick and prevented white voter from voting - the charges were dropped.  Facism is when the Government controls or directs private industry for the good of the party.  (Kind of like the Whitehouse now naming 1/2 of the board of directors for all the bankes that took TARP money of naming doing the same for General Motors.)  It requires that oppositon be silenced - (Kinf of like the presidents best friend Hugo Chavez closes down the opposition papers, or the "fairness doctron wanting to close down Fox) - It is NOT a bad thing - as long as you are a "loyal party member"

I know what fascism is Don and that's exactly why I am unwilling to endorse any statement that uses it unless there is 100% proof. If our government passes something resembling the Nuremberg Laws then I will call fascism myself, not before that moment though will I agree with any statement that uses that word.

Cannot argue with that - So I'd like to say that the actions of our government have been fascist like - When the top 50 banks have 1/2 their board of directors appointed by the government (all big campaign donators to ONE party) - and when the executives managing General Motors and 1/2 the board require government approval (see donators above - what would you call it? When the sitting president has formed a committee to repeal the 22nd amendment and on health care a promise bi-pass the committees that don't agree or have too many opposing voices - when you add these together - would you say that the government is using (of shall we say) Fascist Tactics?

I just can't agree if your putting that word in there. It's just my personal morals. I disagreed when people called the bush administration fascist as well. Also it doesn't matter how much info you put up there I'm just not that interested in playing the political game anymore. I mean people cried foul the whole Bush administration and now the other side is using the exact same tactics.

I'm not calling you a liar Don. It's just that we all get our information from second hand sources, and it's truly tiresome to try to walk the line between propaganda and truth. The people who know the absolute truth are the ones you never hear a word from. Whether Republican, Democrat, Liberal, Conservative, old, or new our government learned how to keep mouths shut a few decades ago and I believe that it still keeps mouths shut. So to be fair we have to take a grain of salt with everything we hear from any news source. It's like my grandfather used to tell me: "Never believe anything you hear and only half of what you see."

I'lll just start with this - GM now has it's board approved by both Canada and the Whitehouse - See below  - The source is the GM web site

I'm careful about what facts I repeat - (yes sometimes I blow it but not often)

General Motors Announces U.S. & Canadian Government Appointed Board Members

TheGMSource - The "New GM" appears complete - at least as it relates to the new Board of Directors. Today the U.S. and Canadian Governments made their appointments for the new GM Board.

Chosen to round out the Board are Carol Stephenson, Daniel Akerson, David Bonderman, Robert Krebs, and Patricia Russo. Hit the jump for a full rundown of their histories and what boards they currently sit on.

Oh not playing any games my friend - just providing a little evidence - The Democratic Party now appoints the board for GM, and all of those appointed are BIG campaign donators.  (Ok  - in not facism it is at lease cronisms)
