Question about Zune models
Recently I went to Best Buy to buy a Zune 120GB. The store clerk couldn't find one then said that Microsoft discontinued making them because they were coming out with newer models.

The only new model that I can find any info on is the Zune HD. I don't see anything about any new models of the older Zunes being released at all. Please help, I really would like to get my Zune within the next few weeks.

re: Question about Zune models
It's true, the current models are being discontinued and being replaced by the Zune HD. If you want a Zune 120GB you'll have to do some searching but your best bet is to buy it online. The best place to go is Zune Originals. There you can customize the kind of Zune you want by changing the color, adding a design on the back and even text.

Oh really? The Zune 4, 8, 16, 80 and 120gb are being discontinued?
Ugh now I see when people are bawing in other threads. I don't get why would MS do that.
I hope it's only temporary >_>.

re: Question about Zune models
Over here in Canada Wal-Mart still sells every Zune models, except the Zune30 and Zune80, so it is a safe bet that there is a chance that Microsoft won't discontinue the Zune line, and remember, just because a model is discontinued doesn't mean it has lost support, look at the Zune30, it is "discontinued" yet it still has support and updates! Also, it wouldn't be a wise move on Microsoft's part to discontinue its other lines without replacing the model, since not everyone could afford a ZuneHD, making it so less people would buy Zunes due to its limited variety, which would lessen Microsoft's profits, but if they where to replace it, that would be a different matter entirely, but they are not, and I read on other threads that they aren't being discontinued, just restocking.

re: Question about Zune models
The current players won't last long. The Zune HD is what Microsoft is hoping will sell in competition to the iPod Touch. They're not restocking, they're not getting new players, it's just the Zune HD. Sad to say the Zune is declining in sales so why should they support it when their new, shiny, "HD" branded player is getting web buzz and anticipation and is competatively priced against the competition? Go to any tech store that used to sell them that are now running out and they will tell you that they're getting discontinued or that they are no longer recieving shipments. I just went to best Buy today. The only players I saw were two flash Zunes on display. They had a couple accessories, but that's it. Granted, this is in Canada where they're siginificantly disappearing compared to the US and we also don't have confirmation on the HD coming to Canada. So while Walmart has them now they won't for long. Best to buy them on Zune Originals while you can.
