Whenever I make ratings changes on the device and then sync, the ratings don't transfer over to the software all of the time. In fact, I'm looking at only about 20% of the ratings transferring back over to the songs in my pc library. Even negating the fact that ratings are fairly crippled in the first place, this is unacceptable because it used to work perfectly on the Zune 30's and older software. I'm not sure why this is happening. Moreover, the icon that indicates that a song is on your device doesn't show up for many of my tracks. Not ironically, these are the tracks that are not having their ratings transferred over from the device.
This latest problem has me to a point where I'm wondering if any aspect of the Zune platform will ever function properly. I've had problems with signing in, syncing, wifi syncing, music playback on the software (crippled now playing functionality), playlist creation, zune pad unresponsiveness while in the official case, altec dock issues, and now ratings. As a zune customer since day 1 of 06, all of these problems has me thinking "when will the issues ever end." I just want a product that works. It seems like this is becoming too much to ask for from MS. I know they have the resources, but it appears that something else is the problem. I hope they can get back on track and fix at least some of these issues before Christmas.
