My wishlist for Zune HD
Wishlist:
  • More file formats and codecs support (video and audio / flac, mkv, and etc).
  • More design options with Zune Originals and allow custom designs from users (vectors?)
  • Last.fm built-in the Zune HD device and software or as an app. Or at least allow Zune Software to work with Last.fm's tracker software.
  • Flash support (Tegra = flash accellerartion for mobile devices)
  • Firmware update for older Zunes (at least the Pins and Recently Added) <- Still uses Zune 30GB : )
  • More information about the Apps, Games, and the Zune Software updates ( I know the Zune team is working on it, but whenever you can release us some information to make our hearts content. )
  • Zune DAC/AMP acessessory or built-in amp to the device.
  • Quick switch or shortcut to Wi-Fi (on/off). Maybe an option to add it to the pins. Less side-menus to go through.
  • Expansion memory slot
  • Plently of other things that I've forgotten, can't have everything : (.

Good job!:
  • Interface ( I love the pins (Win 7) and recently added. Also like that the Zune Software screen saver is now on the Zune.)
  • The overall design of the device. Very slick and cool.
  • Ok battery life, I thought it would be better with Tegra and the OLED but I'm guessing your limited to the battery size of the small device vs. a netbook/laptop battery.
  • Great prices!
  • HD radio
  • 720p hdmi out (Price on the dock would be nice)
  • Build quality on Zune ( I've dropped mine plenty of times and it still runs like a charm. )
  • Zune software
  • Plently of other things that I've forgotten
  • Zune Social

re: My wishlist for Zune HD
I could totally agree with all you want, but I wouldn't hope for so much on hardware changes, since the new generation of Zune models are already "complete", but we could hope in firmware changes like games, better GUI, support, but I really agree with you the most for more supported file formats, I would really like to see .avi, .mkv, .mpeg2, .flv, and tons more.

From what I've heard, the battery in the Zune HD is a fair amount smaller than on the iTouch, (close to half the size I think) so even though the battery life is similar, you are using less power than on the iTouch. Unfortunately I can't find the source I got this from so take it as you will, but even so, the thought that the Zune HD could have 60+ hours of play time on it if they boost the battery size is amazing.

totally agree with last.fm, codec support, and flash.  Seeing as last.fm is on the 360 i think theres no reason that it shouldnt be able to make its way to the zune.

Does anyone know if the price will go up or down after the release?

re: My wishlist for Zune HD

1- add a removeable battery

2- add a microSD card slot

3- increase the storage to 64 GB

4- lose the browser (if MS is unable to do it right, then why bother at all)

Now it's a media player and worth buying. Items 1 & 2 are deal breakers for me and why I'm passing on the Zune HD.

Or how about three options in settings On, Off and Auto. The Auto setting would switch off Wifi after a user specified timeout or several minutes of no activity. It would then reconnect without prompting you when needed. I would also like to see the Wifi indicator on the home screen along with the battery indicator.

Sleep timer, sleep timer, sleep timer...

So simple, so obvious, still MIA

Very frustrating omission.

Before anyone says "playlists", allow me to say "radio and audiobooks".  :)
