Wiped HD on Computer - New Issues
I had to wipe my HD and did not make backups for my music files used on my Zune. I just assumed (Yes, I'm that smart) that if I would just download the Zune software again I could easily transfer the music from my 80G device back into the Zune program and everything would be back to normal. However, upon syncing my device, only some of the songs transferred, multiple versions of the same album featuring separate (half-length) versions of different songs appeared.

Then I tried to uninstall everything and delete these files to start over. Well, the songs are still there. Somewhere. They no longer show up in the music files and I can't find them anywhere if I search, only in the Zune program (after an uninstall/reinstall). Not sure where I have gone wrong or why I'm so stupid. Any insight into either would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

I'm not sure what you are asking for but you could right-click the song, go to properties and click the location link and it will take you to the folder.

I've tried to do the same thing (bought a new pc) and some, not all of the files will be copied to the system. I don't understand why this is happening.

when i got a new computer the easy way to make sure all the songs are copied is to drag them from your device, by going to the device tab and highlighting all your music and draging it to the computer icon in the bottom left hand corner. As long as you are logged in under the account where you bought the music from, Zune pass or MArketplace purchaces. the will show up in your library. when i got my computer it was a no brainer. but when it came time to sync my sisters I-pod i had to transfer the music from  my old computer on an 8gig flash drive or else the I-pod would wipe itself apon sync. I am not sure if they fixed this with a new version of I tunes but it took hours to transfer all the files over USB 1.0!! i hated it so much!! If your music isnt on your zune anymore you are out of luck and will have to do it the same way you would transfer music if you had an I-pod.

re: Wiped HD on Computer - New Issues
Well, here is what is going on:

My HD, which had been completely wiped, has no music on it.

My Zune, which had my old music collection, was used to transfer material onto the clean HD. The problem is that only some of the songs transferred. What's weird is that it is that it will transfer every album, just not every song. Sometimes it will transfer two copies of the album, some with playable songs, some with songs that are "errors". All of these songs were originally on this computer and all of these songs play fine on my Zune. Why can't I swap them over?? I used to love the Zune/Zune program, now it's giving me fits!

re: Wiped HD on Computer - New Issues

Hmm [^o)] I just bought a new computer on tuesday and some of the songs, not all, were copied to the new HDD/ collection. It's probably a fault in the software or some way of preventing pirating. The same goes for all of my videos, even though I got them all form youtube. This is really frustating. You either have to redownload the files or just keep trying to add them to your collection. It'll eventually add a few at a time whenever it wants.
