Zune Won't Sync.
Ok, so my Zune won't sync, it'll just update (and thats whenever it wants to) and now that I'm trying a THIRD time to sync, it shuts down every time in the middle. Not the program, the entire computer turns off altogether. This started after I got: "WHAT HAPPENED TO MY ZUNE COLLECTION!?".

It sounds like you have some sort of nasty disk error on the PC.  I'd start by reinstalling the zune software.  (I don't think there is any problem on the zune itself.)

re: Zune Won't Sync.
I have this EXACT problem.  My husband's iPod syncs fine.  I tried syncing my Zune, and the computer just died.  Tried at least four times.  Then uninstalled and reinstalled the Zune program.  The same thing happened again.  Only my syncs for about 2 minutes then kills the PC.

re: Zune Won't Sync.
UPDATE

I called Zune support and have performed the following tasks:

1.  Removed the Zune software.
Downloaded the Zune software from download.microsoft.com (as per support, this is a different package than from Zune.net)
Restared my computer.  Started Zune software again, connected Zune, began to sync.  Added 10 songs and it shut down my computer.

2.  Erased my data from my Zune by pressing up and back, then on start up pressing back, play, and forward.  Started Zune software and connected device.  Clicked to "update device" (although the add games was checked) and received error code C00D11CD (8000FFFF).  Tried updating device again without checking "add games" and it seemed to work, as I received no error codes.  Tried syncing again and it shut down my computer.

3.  Support told me to install hot fix 946701 by performing a search on Zune.net for "946701."  Installed software then started Zune software.  Connected Zune and began to sync.  Added about 10 songs and it turned off the computer.

4.  Right clicked on Zune, then clicked Properties and added space-gdi after the quotation marks at the end of the target string.  Started the Zune software again.  Went to settings, display, and then graphics.  Under this I moved the graphics up one level to "Advanced" and then back down to "Basic."  Then clicked "OK."  I exited the software and opened it back up.  Connected Zune and after syncing about 3 minutes it turned off my computer.

5.  Unplugged computer from the internet.  Started Zune software.  Connected Zune and synced about 15 songs and it turned off my computer.

6.  Connected back to the internet.  Uninstalled Zune software again.  Uninstalled "Microsoft User-Mode Driver Framework Feature Pack 1.7."  Uninstalled "Windows Media Runtime 11 Format."  Restarted the computer.  Downloaded ".net Framework 3.5" from Microsoft.com and installed it.  Downloaded and installed "Windows Media Player 11" from Microsoft.com.  Clicked "Startzune.exe" on my desktop (downloaded from step number 1).  Launched Zune software after it installed.  Started Sync and then stopped sync.  Started sync again and it added 44 songs then crashed my computer...again.

All of these steps came directly from Zune support except step 2 where I erased all the data myself.  I was also informed that I cannot get a refund for my product since I believe it came from zune.net as it is engraved.  I am at my wits end here.  I have a nice piece of equipment, and it doesn't work.  I have over three thousand songs in my library, and no way to hear them.  This issue didn't begin until the beginning of this month.  I tried to sync and it removed everything from my zune and then tried re-adding everything and that's when the crashing began.  My Zune updates from my husband's iTunes library, and he updated it about a month ago.  I don't know if that's got anything to do with it.  Any and all help/comments would be greatly appreicated.  Thank you.

/ditto.

Why is it always "your PC" when there are so many reports of this sync issue?

Because it works for the vast majority of zune users.  But, don't take that "your PC" too literally...it can easily be something unique about how the zune software interacts with system files that you may or may not have installed.  If you put 5 experts in a room and asked whose bug it is, you'd probably get 6 opinions!

This time it won't even update information on the Zune. -.-' It stays on (when its not adding songs) and it shows as if it updated, but nothing is changed.

re: Zune Won't Sync.
Another update:

I did get my Zune to sync.  I unplugged the router from the computer.  It worked fine, but didn't update all of the album artwork.

It's been fine for almost two weeks....until today.  I listened to two albums and then tried listening to a third, I received an error that the song was missing or it could not play the song.  I tried this for numerous artists, but received the same error message each time.  I turned off the Zune, then turned it back on where I received the "Connect the Zune to your PC" message.  I got home and connected to my PC.  However, I received two error messages as the firmware could not update (I have firmware version 3.1, I think):

"Device was not updated Error Code:  C00D1249"

I tried syncing again and received:

"Cannot sync because there is not enough space on you Zune Error Code:  C00D124F"
However, there is no way I'm out of space on my Zune, I have the 120 GB version and it's only about 1/2 way full.
After unplugging the device from the usb (but leaving the cord attached to the PC) and the Zune software running, my computer crashed.

I tried erasing all data, and now have the "Screen 5:  Contact Support."

Please offer any advice.  Also, how can I return this piece of equipment?
Thanks for your help/comments.

re: Zune Won't Sync.
I sent my Zune to support and finally received one Friday.  I turned on the Zune software and plugged in my Zune.  It did a forced firmware update to 3.1 from 2.5 (all while connected to the internet).  After a successful update I tried to sign in to the social, my computer turned off.  So, I booted up again, disconnected from the internet and tried to sync my Zune.  All seemed fine and well, until it was 14% synced, and then a message appeared that the Zune was "unresponsive."  I turned the Zune off and back on and received the "Contact Support" screen.  I am so tired of this.  Please let me know if anyone has any luck returning their Zune to Zune.net.

Thank you

It could be your computer. Do you have a friend who has a computer? Maybe you can see if you can sync with theirs.
