My zune 80gb will not hold a charge??????

I have had my zune 80gb  for about 2yrs and the problem started about 2weeks ago when i charge my zune after the battery is drained  the battery icon jumps to full and it turns green in about 5 minutes after charging, but when i play it the battery drops to less than half full after the first few seconds of cutting it on then it shuts off completely and says low battery.Even if i let it charge for hours on in the battery icon will be green and full then i play it and it only last for 15 minutes.I have tried to re calibrate my battery and the battery still wont hold a charge.

Has anyone else had this problem with the zune 80gb if so can you give me any advice on how to fix it

thank you

That doesn't sound good...but I'd try calibrating one more time.  This time, though, when you are draining the battery, keep starting it until it won't stay on for more than just a few seconds before you move to the charge cycle.  (But if it charges up to full in just a few minutes...give up.  It's a bad battery or some other problem...)

Good luck!

re: My zune 80gb will not hold a charge??????

Is what i am experiencing a common problem with the zune 80gb  because i have contacted zune and they said it will be a charge of 150.00$ dollars to repair and i dont want to spend money and have the problem with a new device happen again.I have read it has something to do with the new firmware and alot of people have been having the same problem i am having with the battery.

any help would be appreciated

if it's not a calibration issue and therefore easy to fix yourself, it's probably a bad battery.  Those are no more or less common with zunes than with any other device using similar batteries...and are relatively cheap to get fixed at a third party repair service.  Two are mentioned in here somewhat often...one is rapidrepair.com and the other I can never remember... you may be able to search for it.

re: My zune 80gb will not hold a charge??????

I just finsished re calibrating my battery  30 minutes ago i have followed the steps to do so and the battery is still doing the samething so im guessing your right it is not a calibrating issuse its must be an old battery i have looked at rapid repair.com but i did a search and i can bot find the other site your are talking about i was wondering can you post other third party repair services so i can find the best and cheapest.
