I'd like to start a forum on discussing latin music. This could take many angles, but I like to talk about the music and the stories behind the music. In my blog, I posted an article about the Premios Billboard Musica Latina 2009. The subtitle is: "more of the same" because we always see the same winners! In my opinion, these awards, like "Premios Lo Nuestro", Latin Grammy, etc. seem to be focusd on the artist or group popularity instead of the quality of their music. I have a beef with this because it doesn't allow the unknown or unconnected and good artist to shine through his work.
So I think the real reason behind this is a flawed marketing strategy by the music industry to boost sales, which have been in steady decline for the past few years. This post is geeting long, so you can read the full story at my blog (which you can get through my Zune Card).
